Just did 9 hours on a set of 225s. I wasn't able to attend, but apparently they "wear like iron" and grip was great, new PR was 5 seconds faster than last year on star specs, although we added 15hp, aero, and much better suspension.

Why the eff don't they make the RE-71R's in 225/45/15. The Miata community would get collectively faster overnight if they did. Seems to be pretty consistent with what we've seen, subjectively they like the RS4's, and they fit the role of an endurance tire. That being said RE-17R's and Rival S's seem to run away in terms of performance. The interesting thing is how dominant RE-71R's are in the wet.

Bundy confirmed this earlier this spring. In cold, wet autocross, RE71R > Hoosier H2O. The H2O's don't have time to come up to temp.

just ordered the RS4 in a 245...alignemnt is currently the 949 dual duty -2.5 front -2 rear camber. Since some have experience with the tires already, should I leave the alignment as is or back the camber off a bit? I know some tires like different alignments more than others. Car is 2500lb, XIDA 700/400, proper sway bars, 15x10 rim. Also not sure what pressures I should start them at.

Any advice appreciated. Car is mostly street driven but will be tracked and possible even autocrossed, mostly street though.

I'm running 3.2/2.7 for camber and wear looked spot on, might be faster with a touch more camber but will bias wear to the inside. I found 28psi seems to work well but I'm running 9" wheels, you may find you can go lower or like it better higher.

OK, I know this isn't going to be the fastest possible solution (I know H2O wets probably are) but I'm looking for a wet that's more budget (and can be used for street testing) than the Hoosiers for a relatively low-power NC. Car should be capable of right about Spec Miata times, driver isn't. ;) Heading to Road America weekend after next, and the way weather in Wisconsin has been lately I feel distinctly uncomfortable not bringing anything other than R7s to the track.

I'm seeing talk that the RS4s are longer wearing than the RE-71Rs but maybe not as good in the wet? But I'm not autocrossing...

The latest offering from Conntinental, the Conti-sport whatever, got great wet weather traction results and I have gotten great feedback on them from people I know using them on Miata's. They are a step or two slower than RS4's and RE-71R's in the dry, but faster in the wet.

Huh. The Continentals might be worth a try (RA1s don't come in the right size; class requires stock wheels of all things) If nothing else, *anything* with tread blocks and grooves will save my ass in the rain vs R7s.

In the absence of standing water, you will go faster on an R7 than you will on a Conti ECS

After my experiences earlier this year with standing water at Blackhawk Farms on R7s, standing water is part of what I'm concerned about. ;)

There's a GRM test of ECS and PS4S at TWS in the rain. About two months ago. Includes 150MPH down the front straight with rooster tails.

Both are quick. The PS4S is quicker both in dry and wet, except when you have to cut through a fairly deep puddle at speed. ECS cuts water like butter. ECS are also way easier to drive...super-progressive The PS4S is edgy in both dry and wet. ECS are more budget-friendly.

Definitely some really good tires, I recently put the 245/40-15 on my 10" ULs and happy so far, though I won't get to track test them until next year. All I can say is through a long turn such as an on/off ramp. I can corner hard enough to where I'm sliding out of my MSM leather seats, and mid-turn I can yank the wheel in some more without having any under or oversteer, and the car just darts to the inside of the turn. We'll see how they do when I actually get them sticky next year.

These tires are pretty ridiculous. I needed both new streets and track tires, so compromised with 225 RS4's as a dual duty hold over. Hammering on them for two days in near 100 degree heat didn't seem to phase them at all and the grip is outstanding. No chunking or weird wear. They did tend to be fastest on the first flying lap, but that's to be expected with a street in the heat. Definitely feel I can't brake as hard compared to 225 RC-1's, but the lateral grip is downright stupid for a street tire imo. I don't have reference for RE71R/Rival S grip though. Will definitely continue using these as dual duty for keeping heat cycles off track rubber as I move towards RR's or Hoosiers.
