Default Mismatched tire size help

Hey guys,

I found a set of really cheap Hoosier R6 locally. 2 are 225/50/15 and the other 2 are 225/45/15. Would you guys run this mismatched setup or will I be asking to dial out any unwanted characteristics via other methods?

ps - I've never used a set of R compounds before, am I in over my head with something at this level?

Thanks.

I guess I could, but that makes way too much sense

should be fine just run the 50 in the rear as your will a tighter fit up frount. Doubt you would see much differnct as you would with differnet tire sizes.

Having no practical experience with this what-so-ever, I figured I'd chime in with some potentially useless thoughts

It doesn't seem like it would make much difference in handling to me. If the width/model of the tires are the same so it shouldn't affect under/oversteer. The end with the 50 series tire would sit a little higher but if that does create an issue it would be easy enough to adjust ride height a little bit.

If that still doesn't work, perhaps you could stagger them side to side and look into some circletracks. Sprint cars run that way so I'm sure it works on miatas too.

Why not toss the smallers in the rear to keep the acceleration?
