Also ordered a set of 245/40R15 Nankang AR-1's. They won't arrive before I leave town for a bike race so it'll be 1st week June before I can test. Plan is to run sticker RC-1, RR, AR-1 in same size on Vegas at SOW under as controlled conditions as we can afford. RC-1 being the control as we know how to get the maximum out of them. 3 drivers, A/B/C/A, A/B/C/A. Mid week we get the track to ourselves so we can run pretty much continuously. Will be doing some testing on Xida protos for the 86 at the same time. Work, work, work, work.

I had a set of Nankang 245's mounted 15x10's over the weekend. Car is inactive at the moment, so now performance metrics, but they certainly look the part. The limited information available does seem to be promising.

Were you able to get any testing done on these?

I haven't used them, but there are some good reviews out there. I'll probably try a set when I wear out my BFG Rivals. Also the tread looks like a tarmac stage rally tire, which obviously makes them better because racecar.

eBay has 10% off right now. Not sure of the limitations, but it looks like it works on tires.

I have a set of 15x8 6ULs sitting in the garage. Debating on one of these Federal 595 options.

$341 595RS-RR 225/45ZR15
$313 595RS-RR 205/50ZR15
$275 595RS-R 205/50ZR15

I don't see a lot of info about the difference between the RS-RR and RS-R. Both are claimed to be 200TW.
Looks like the RS-R might be slightly better in the wet.
Stock engine NB2, DIY Bilsteins, mostly street with some Autocross.

Thoughts?

RR I believe is the newer compound/design. I ran these as daily/track tires on my miata for a few years and have a set on my corvette as well. Very sticky in the dry, work for track tires, they can get a bit greasy on super hot days (only time for me was low 90 ambient, so quite hot on track). These are LOUD on the street. They make a lot of noise. My last miata set had roughly... 8-9 track days and a few thousand street miles on them and probably could have gotten another 2-3 track days out of them.

Does anyone have any track experience with the Achilles ATR sport tires? I've been running RSR's on the street but the noise is finally driving me crazy. I have a pair i had installed instead of a new set of RSR's in 195/50's and while they make CONSIDERABLY less road noise they still seem to have the same if not better level of grip, at least in the cold NY temperatures as of late. It makes sense since they seem to be marketed as more street oriented but what i'm really looking for is how do they hold up to track use? They're a bit cheaper which is nice but the price is nearly negligible.

more info on the rt-660's will be coming... so far a 225/45-15 has been spotted in the wild.

a 275/35-15 ar-1 will be coming later in the season.

Neat. those will sell like hotcakes if its a half decent tire since it will be the only hot street tire in that size.

they'll be a great option i think.
from what i've gathered, they tend to be late with new mold roll-outs... so it might be more like august or so before anyone can actually get there hands on them...

Spoiler

Looks like a new RE-71RS might be coming out this year too. Hopefully they'll have some wider 15" sizes.
