Track tire life expectancy with power.

Right on. Totally off-topic, but here's the one I was thinking of:

Back on topic: My RS3s have 16 track days on them this year, plus a couple of autocrosses, and they are just about worn out. My car is basically stock power. Not sure how this would compare to an NT-01, but hopefully I will be finding out soon.

Personally, I don't have any experience tracking other cars. but I can tell you the maintenance cost for tracking a miata is a small fraction of what it costs for M cars, corvettes, porsches, and whatever else. Hell, I talked with a guy who was tracking his IS-F. He runs XP12 fronts and goes through a set every 3 weekends, they cost him easily 2.5 times more than my xp10s according to his quoted price.
The list is beyond tires, rotors and pads are more expensive, hubs, bearings, engines, transmission. You can get good deals on a motor+trans for the miata, as low as 750 sometimes!

I've been debating RS3 vs NT-01. This is a good thread.
Can someone explain to me what happens to this car? Did a tire blow hitting the curbing on the passenger side or did they get bumped? I'm not understanding what causes the bang, and the violent spin.

OP, I dont know where you live because your location isn't on your profile. If I was in your shoes I would do the following.
Buy a salvaged but repairable 01+ Miata that is fairly easy to fix (think racecar)
Send it to trackspeed Savington's company in California
Install Xida's, big brakes, 15x10's, Hoosier 245's, gut it, cage, head work, intake, exhaust, intake manifold, etc
Spank all of these cars your thinking of getting in a miata.

I recently went through my first set of NT01s. 225/45/15 on 15x9 6ULs. Managed to get between 80-90 heat cycles out of them, running 15-20 minutes sessions. Finally had a tiny bit of cord showing on the insides.
And for reference, I came from HPDEing an Evo 8 for two years. It was my daily with sound system and everything so it weighed 3575, with 400whp on E85 with a stock turbo, Vishnu Ohlins and a bunch of Whiteline stuff.. I was using used R6s, about 300 a set which would last 2-3 weekends. So just in tires and brakes I'm down to less than half the cost. And I've already lost two 5 speeds in the miata. Would hate to know how much a transmission would cost in the Evo.
The miata is 251whp on busted old *** Koni yellows. I don't think those things even do anything anymore. But even with that, I'm within 1-2 seconds of most of my Evo times on the local tracks, and I still am learning to drive rwd. Big change from the Evo which was easy as hell to drive.

Rent trackspeed's (Savington's company) trackcar, so you get to know how fast your even without turbo.

I had a 944 with a big turbo, it was awesome but I would burn up a set of 275/45/17 in a few days days and not to mention the brake pads which cost over $600 for all four corners. the car also had many issues along the way. I cant compare because I just got a miata last week but pretty optimistic that it be way cheaper and able to keep up with friends. as for the vettes, they are awesome but if you want to run fast on slicks you need to do a lot of expensive work. if you want a vette track car, and can write the check, buy a used T1 car, with a pile of A6 tires.
