99's have solid lifters there are no hydraulic ones available if by mechanical you mean hydraulic.

I just pull all the caps and do one valve at a time. It makes it easy for moving shims around and in and out and so on...

I still have my shim under valve train AND cams. Might be time to try and sell them again. Did you end up buying everything from the same person as a set? or piece it together?

Mind giving a breakdown of the benefits of shim under buckets setups? Sounds like i couldn't afford it if I wanted but I'd still like to know.

Less valve train weight- that means quicker valve action. A lower valve spring rate is used (since it's moving less weight) and that means it's easier for the cams to spin. Everybody is happier.

On a side note- when I first installed the shim-under-bucket in the race car, we were running the stock ecu and apparently the frequency of the new valve train sounded like knock at higher rpm... bye bye all ign advance.

I just bought the lifters from miata roadster and bought some 6mm lash caps from somewhere else and had them ground to my specs. The cam is a custom grind from Integral.

Default 99 Lifters

I've got a set if you are still in need. Make me a reasonable offer.
