I've run into this problem several times- usually when running something slightly non-standard.

I've always solved it with a bit of threaded rod, some nuts and lockwashers, a bit of angle-aluminum, and a generic J-hook from the auto parts store:

While inventive, it's probably not necessary. Go to a junkyard, and pull the hold down from any car that uses a small battery. Or, if you have time, order one. http://www.batterymart.com/p-00678-battery-hold-down-kit.html?device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=CLXBx by79rkCFcyZ4Aod0moAMQ is one of the first that came up in a search. I'm sure there are others for about the same exorbitant price.

I happened to stumble (literally) across a metal rod from i think my old inner handle latches that I bent to shape, wrapped with vac line for padding, and bolted to the tab that the J normally holds onto. Problem solved
