WTB - SR20 T25 or any bigger T25/T28 footprint turbo
Looking for anything really, just not a DSM.
May stay on stock motor, may build one, so big turbo isn't bad. Just has to be a T25/T28. Don't have a lot of money right now, so probably need a rebuildable, but functioning one. If you've got something nice I can raise some funds though. Feed lines, fittings and inlet/outlet adapters are a BIG plus. Thanks |
Standby, let me check and see what I have. I might be able to help you out.

I bought this off splittime, and wound up going with a 2560. I had it shipped to corky, he checked it out, then i removed, inspected and placed in box. Been siting on shelf since. Pm me with offer if its what you want.

GTi-R T28, $300. This is considered to be the best journal bearing small frame turbo (in the SR20 community at least). It supports 325whp on an SR20. Its completely usable as-is but I would recommend a rebuild since the hot side oil seal seemed to be on its way out (was puffing some smoke from the tailpipe during decel). I had no evidence of any oil in the intercooler or piping.

Dan https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t32838/ Please correct me if I'm wrong. Coming from an IHI only setup I'm very unfamiliar with the Garrett footprints/flanges. I just know I'd prefer a free-er flowing turbine. Had enough of this small RHB5 stuff, and the dinky compressors as well.

Let me see if I can swing that price and a rebuild kit. EDIT: Wow, didn't think rebuild kits were so cheap...cheapest IHI kit is $115. This T28 kit is $30...worth a shit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO...item414e5ec280 |
eBay man. I paid $300 shipped for mine.

I drive close to 1000miles a week though, and hate to put that much faith in those. Although I guess if it doesn't come apart in the first two weeks it's probably good, although downtime would be killer for me since I wrecked my wife's car and this one's a necessary daily now. |
Ok, turns out the GTi-R T28 has the RS style downpipe flange, and won't work.
So, so far, two turbos offered with different flanges. Looking for something with standard T2 flanges on both sides, that will fit the FM cast manifold and bellmouth downpipe. Unless a regular SR20 pops up it looks like a chinacharger is the best bet. I've actually seen some of those as low as $180 in the SR20 variety, and that's with machined cylindrical compressor inlet and outlet, therefore not requiring the inlet adapter or outlet elbow. |
Still looking:
T25, with fittings helps Paypal ready |
Where do you think those rebuild kits come from? I'm pretty sure what you find in the rebuild kits is the same shit that is being run inside the chinachargers. I got my turbo rebuild kit on ebay and has been running great for many thousands of miles.
Having said that, I wish I could sell you my turbo, but I cant afford an upgrade right now :( |
Yeah, I'm leaning towards a chinacharger right now...easy to replace.
This is the kind I was talking about in my last post: T25/T28 TURBO TURBOCHARGER 240SX S13 S14 S15 SR20 SR20D : eBay Motors (item 270551917398 end time Apr-22-10 02:03:30 PDT) I like the easy coupler fittings. |

Damon, make an account on Zilvia forum. They have a crap load of SR20 T25s for cheap. I got mine for $50.
|
Have a line on a local one cheap, but still entertaining offers.

Find me a gt2860 for $700 or less and preferably new and I will sell you my t25 from an sr20 for a ridiculously good amount.
Or if I find one sometime soon, I will shoot you a pm to see if you want my old t25. |
^^^Keeping my eyes peeled.
You know you're looking too hard when you find yourself looking at a month old FS ad on SR20forum and you recognize the screen name, scroll down and realize you missed Clay's $380 2560... Bumping for help...I will keep spending study time looking until I find a good one, so help me out guys. I'm really leaning towards something bigger than the SR20 turbo at the moment. Thanks. |
$350 I have one of those gti-r t28's with the journal bearing, comes with a rebuild kit, I've never used it, has a little in and out shaft play. The only thing it needs is a wastegate bracket.
It comes with the s14 BB intake housing so the turbo is capable of 300whp, both intake elbows as well. I test fitted it on my FM cast manifold and downpipe and everything botled up perfectly. I have oil lines from artech (stainless feed, silicone drain) that I also bolted up, they're slightly short but they work that I can sell for the same amount that they cost me. I think it was around $80-$90. |
Are you sure both flanges on that turbo bolt up to the FM mani and downpipe?
I was under the impression that it was different, like 6 bolts instead of 5, and two of them closer together different. I like the turbo characteristics, but need something plug and play since I don't have anything native to this footprint to work with. |
I bolted everything up to my car but wasn't happy with all the gunk I found on the side of my motor from previous owners. Manifold, downpipe, turbo, oil feed were all bolted up but I did not tap my oil pan. It is a standard t25/t28 pattern, I compared it to my blown s14 BB turbo and everything is the same except my exhaust side housing is a bit bigger but the flange is identical.
I wanna pull the motor out and clean it all up before I go turbo. Come drive down to houston and get it so you don't pay shippping. edit:I am using an FM manifold and downpipe as well. |
