Ha, thanks for the input. Just knowing I don't have to cut anything is a great time saver and it lets me never question any connection issues if I need to troubleshoot.

Well except he's clearly dont the spoiler wrong since it should have made the car mega pushy even at autox.

Not sure how one could **** it up, not like I reinvented the wheel or anything. I just took what others had done and made something similar. Plenty of CSP cars with a spoiler and no front splitter.

Whatever the case might be, after the spoiler I not only won my class but, was the second fastest car on street tires out, at the last event. I only got beat by .05 by a fully prepped STX FRS that runs in Pro. This is on a Rival S btw, not a RE71. The car was very twitchy during the Match Tour in Bristol and the spoiler just made it easier to drive, whether it is 100% the most efficient is pretty irrelevant for me, since the car not only became easier to drive but it's winning.

On another note. We had a local fabricator's shop burn down. Many in the Miata community know him from his drop spindles and lower control arms. Keisler Automation is down for the count right now and it would be great if we can get more people to donate so he can get back on his feet. He's a great guy and was just starting to build a future for himself, he's young but very driven. His shop car is safe since we were still tuning it but all his tools and equipment are a total loss.

Did he not have insurance on his shop? If not that is a very stupid mistake.

I don't know the details on what his insurance will cover. This is how the man made a living, a check from his insurer is not going to cover lost wages or time spent rebuilding. I can only imagine watching all your work burning down in front of you.

Hot day this past weekend autocrossing. My Rival's were singing pretty loud. This is my fastest run and it's pretty obvious there is tons of time left on course. I need to take course walks more serious and avoid them as social events.

Had someone ask me to build them a spoiler. I don't really want to keep making these but if people are willing to pay then I'll take a weekend to build and install them. Pretty happy with this one. Used 4 uprights instead of 3 and backed down the overall length since he only stays on the street with his car.

Really fun rain event today. Only good for a second place finish, though. It was a lot more difficult to get the power down than I assumed. I never drive the car in the rain so it was interesting to see how it behaved. You can see me hydroplane at the end of the chute. I got a bit excited when I saw my time at the end. It placed me second and now I am in a tough fight for first place points, this gave me a decent edge over the other two in my class gunning for 1st.

Had a really nice C63 AMG hit an island at about 20mph. It trashed the wheels and bent suspension up pretty good. For some reason, everyone in F-Street agreed to run without traction control, didn't turn out well for this guy.

Made a video about my D585 coil install. The engine revs much smoother. I got to put some gap back in the plugs and I feel much safer running these coils over the stock coil pack. Overall the install is pretty easy.

Good taste in music, and I have the exact same saw horses.

Tach- do you have a tach out circuit in ms? If not, a pullup on its own wont do anything, since there will be no signal to pull up.

Thanks for the plug!

These saw horses are awesome.

There is a tach out option with my board but, it is not currently used. I think I will just run a wire directly from MS to the cluster. Glad the music is well received.

Had an autocross yesterday, our 10th event. This was a blast but this suspension is just not going to cut it. I love the cost-effectiveness of the budget Bilstein but it's just not up to par for autocross work on our lots.

Event #11 for me. Landed 1st in my class and fastest car on street tires. That also put me top 5 RAW beating a few of the Amod cars and some XP cars as well. The car loved the cooler weather and these Rival S tires loved the pavement surface. I believe this win has put me into the championship if my math is correct. I will know for sure in a few days once points are put into the system. Been great building this car and it accomplished many goals I had set out to hit. I think I am going to take some time this winter and work on more aero as well as get it prepped for E85. Picked up a new daily driver (93 F150 with the 4.9L) so I think I may try my luck at towing it to an HPDE at AMP or something. I am just on the ragged edge with it and don't have full confidence that it can handle the stress of track work and the commute. Not to mention it's about a comfortable as being awake for a coloscopy. Sorry for the low quality, my GoPro **** the bed and this was the only run I could get off the SD card. It also happens to be my slowest.

Started working on a splitter. I will probably get some ABS and do an air dam on the car. I am a bit concerned at how low this is all going to hang once on the ground. I already rub the GV lip going up my driveway quickly. With my relatively soft rates I think I may rub during hard braking as well. I'll have a video of this process once I finish mounting everything. Right now I only have the rear mount complete and I am assembling parts for the front supports.

Got the front support made and mocked up. Now just gotta get some hardware and debate on how I am going to do final mounting. I also need to figure out how to seal the wood. I wouldn't mind glassing the top but I really don't want to put that much effort into this thing yet. I already feel like it may throw off the balance of the car ,even with an aggressive AoA on the rear spoiler.

Debating on how I am going to shape this splitter. I used a router today underneath where the metal bracket attaches so it's now flush with the wood. I am going to get a fiberglass kit this weekend and try out glassing the top of it. I'll probably seal the bottom with some polyurethane or something.

So far I have 3 cuts I may try, 12, 15, and an 18 inch cut.

Still haven't cut the shape yet. Decided the tire face needed addressing. I think this will be about the most I can do with the rear spoiler. I think an air-dam would unbalance the car. I would like to build sideskirts next.

Mocked everything up with cardboard first and then decided to go to my local metal supplier and find some off cuts for the job.

I ended up with some light gauge stainless steel. This was my first time working with stainless and it was much stronger than I would have thought. I should have gotten some aluminum but the finished product looks great and bends to the rear of the bumper well.

Name: 1t9Hehi.jpg
Views: 13
Size: 1.13 MBMounted everything up with some rivnuts. I took some aluminum bar stock and cut small V's into them so I could bend it to the contour of the bumper itself. Riveted it to the bumper and then tapped it for some M6 rivnuts. Super pleased with how it all bolted up. I may look for nicer hardware in the future, but, for the prototype this will be fine.

Finished it up and made the cut at the 18" mark. It will work great once I decide to put an airdam on it. Really happy with it overall, looking forward to trying it out in warm weather.
