it sounds good and looks like it definitely scoots good too.

'grats man

looks like the main stuff is now squared away and you can focus on the details, like making it look less like it wants to rape your children and cut you into pieces

Well as things always seem to go at the end of Fae's video I did a pull to the top of third and at the top of third a huge cloud of smoke came out of the engine compartment and filled the car. After pulling over and looking at everything it seems I have hurt cylinder #2 either the ring lands or cracked a piston or just rings needless to say it is broke. :( It does make an impressive smoke cloud and we took two videos of that but the 2j will be down for a little while. I assume somewhere around 3 weeks to a month. I have a spare motor so I will be taking everything I just put on this one timing belt oil pump and my fresh head and putting it on the other short block. I cant say I didn't expect it to happen at some point and I really think the 40 psi boost spike I hit a two weeks ago was to blame I am not 100% what broke yet but it is broke. Everyone should remember this car has seen a lot of trial and error so I can only imagine the how horrible the engine has felt over the last few months. I did drive it home about 60 miles. Only crappy part is driving a loud car with no hood and it smoking like a train makes you look like a total A hole.lol I will post up the vids when they are done uploading.

I would also like to add that being that Faeflora was in the car it is his fault no matter what.

How does a hurt piston make smoke from the engine bay, unless you did the block ventilation mod, or have an engine bay dump EWG. Its more likely your turbo oil feed is spaying oil all over the exhaust.

I have two -10 lines off my valve covers that go to a venturi in the exhaust so most of the smoke is coming right out the breather and is pushing extra oil into the breather so when it hits the exhaust it smokes even more.

he definitely hurt his engine and I have no idea what you're talking about with his feed line. he'd lose oil pressure and seize in seconds.

lol

I gotta give Sean credit though: at least his car runs periodically. Like 1 day a month or two. Faes has been down so long its already decayed

I have no idea how many miles were on this motor to begin with and the horrible treatment combined with pieces of spark plugs going thru the motor killed it.

Too funny! You are probably OK unless Hustler sees it.

Nah, that's why it's especially funny. I imagine that's Hustler huffing away trying to feel good about going 3 miles further than last week.

I don't know where hustler lives but if for some reason it was him I would have slowed down and done it again lol

Ok so got the motor out of the car last weekend. I burned a hole in cylinder two. Long story short on that one my distributor was off one tooth and instead of 8 deg base time I had 15 deg and so boom boom. On the other had I have another motor working on getting that ready to install tomorrow. I also took some time even though I did not want to, to paint my bay. I went with gloss black I used enamel paint from tractor supply its about $6 a can and I have used it in the past on other things it holds up well and is hard as a rock. I am glad I did do it now that I see it. One day when I decide to really tuck all the wires I will paint it again and fill all the holes and do all the engine bay welding I can think of probably this winter. Here are a few pics for you guys I hope to have this thing back on the road next week. Also I took some time two weeks ago get get my new toy working best $250 I have ever spent hands down. It a scissor lift goes up 31" and it will go all the way up and the miata still clears the garage door opener.lol

New lift in action

New Hotness , Old and busted

New engine bay by no means perfect but looks much much better.
