Positive disassembled the whole gate cleaned polished it tested it with an air hose. In stalled it first check was to put my hand over the gate when the car was started and feel for leaking air last time I could feel exhaust coming out this time nothing. I am still getting the same amount of boost 7 psi it just comes in sooner. I then disconnected the waste gate line to see what that would do no change. Then I put the waste gate line to the top of the gate to put boost pressure on it to hold it closed and still nothing It all ends with the same amount off boost witch turns out to be not enough for me.

I still want to mess with the timing and check my BOV to make sure it is not leaking but after doing some reading and comparing with freinds. This is what I come up with. The car starts to spool around 4500 and hits 7 psi almost at red line at 6500 redline is 6800. The turbine on this turbo is the same size turbine we are running on my freinds race car. His car has a 6.0L LS style motor in it and starts to spool the turbo at about 3k. If we assume that his car pushes twice as much air as mine at any given RPM being that he has head work cams and all the good stuff then my car would start to spool the turbo around 6K. I know that is not the correct formula but looking at numbers his engine pushes almost right at two times the amount of air mine does. His car is also slightly heavier giving him more load on the engine to help with spool. I am coming to terms with the fact that my turbo is too big. lol

a 2jz will spool any ******* turbo.

you dont have a 42R 1.3a/r. or something custom large.

there is some kind of issue with your setup but it isnt turbo sizing.

I just skimmed the thread from start to the last post today. props!!!!!!!! This is a very worthy build and you sir have some skills. I got all excited when post started to jump to 2013 haha, i then realized this was still being built. That wastegate issue is a shame. I wanted to ask because i couldn't see, but where is your source for vacuum /boost to gate and where do you have it connected to on the gate?? Any tees in the line?? Sorry this is all jumbled; i have to reply on my phone because i can't log in the site on government computer.

The wastegate line is hooked directly to the turbo housing no tees or anything. I am paranoid about burning one up an over boost due to where it is so it is a -4an steel braided line

I guess it is just the turbo sizing. I was not doubting you had it set up correctly but just wanted to make sure it was't overlooked. 250whp is still fun for now till you downsize a little bit. Either way you have a legit, 2jz miata daily to drive around. Makes my 185whp turbo bp NB look stupid. haah

Ok so I have put some miles on the car went to HyperFest at Summit point in West Virginia it only like 20 min from my house. I also drove the car to work today. I am currently fighting a nightmare miss fire. I thought it had to do with my ignitor and I narrowed it down to either my fic wiring or my ecu wiring I have a loose wire not sure witch one yet but I will find out. I just did some work on the ecu a week ago so that is the most likely suspect. I also have a new used turbo on the way I will update more as I get it running better.

Damn, I wanted to go to hyperfest but I'm broke as a joke right now. If I had known you were gonna be there I might have worked the corner a few extra nights to make it work. I'm still really surprised that your 2JZ can't spool that turbo. I've never dealt with a big turbo before so I don't know what I'm talking about, but I thought even a stock 3.0 would spool almost any turbo eventually.

I went to hyperfest....but I showed up on Sunday only so it was free entry. I never watch/participate in the hyperfest crap anyways. I just enjoy watching the NASA events and the lemons stuff anyways. (But I'm also only 45min from the track and gas isn't a worry like from Radford)

See my pics in the media section.

Well if everything works out at my job interview next week (in Braintilly), I'm going to be a lot closer for next year.

Ok so here is the latest update. I had some small issues I have been working out. First of witch was a leaking oil pan gasket witch in turned into a leaking dipstick tube witch puked oil all over the car again after I had just cleaned it but it is all better now. I also found my trans mount was broke in half but instead of replacing it I welded it solid just to make sure I did not get any more movement out of it. I drove the car to work 3 times this week and found some small electrical issues mounted the fic under the dash and tucked all the wires out of the way. I had a misfire issue I was chasing all week turned out to be the connector going into the FIC after messing with it a bunch of times I ended up making a special pair of pliers and squeezed all the pins a little after that it has all worked out pretty good. The car is quick at the moment but not fast. I am trying to get a smaller turbo so I can turn up the boost. I will get some more pics and post the up soon.

Ok so another small update. Being a typical me I scored a used 60mm t4 turbo off ebay for $58 shipped. I bought a rebuild kit for another $30 and the rebuild kit should come in the mail today if that is true then I should have it on by this weekend I am also going to try and have the meth injection hooked up by then as well.

Does anyone know what the spring rate is for a front miata spring? I have a set of tokico lowering springs on the back of my car. Yes I used the front springs on the back and when the car goes into boost it squats so hard that the tires rub the top of the fender wells. I want to get new springs but I am not sure what the rate is if anyone knows please let me know so I can get this straightened out.

Try this.

Doesn't have Tokico, but does have good information.

I don't quite understand why you would get that much squat; your suspension set-up may need some help or is incredibly soft. How are your dampers?

Ok still have not worked out the rear spring issue gonna start with some bump stops on the shocks since they have none and see if that helps. On another note I have completed the wiring on my methanol injection system and found the wire on my FIC that will control it just need to install it into the car and get it all working that is on the list for this weekend. I also made a deal for a new turbo not as big as I would have liked but I could not pass it up. I traded the turbo on my car, a god speed turbo I had in the garage and a hx35 I had in the garage for a brand new Borg Warner s256 with two exhaust housings one is a 1.22 t4 and the other is a .8 T4. Going to try and get that on this weekend as well it should be a whole different car with the new turbo and methanol. From what I have read on similar setups the car should make full boost by 3100 rpm and should make well into the 400hp range at about 18-20 psi. ultimately I plane to run 20-23 psi but I am going to start with 15psi because that is what my gate is at and see where that takes me.

I will post pics as I go along this weekend and hopefully get some video. I also had a clutch master die last weekend but I got another one from my neighbor who is a spec miata guy so all is well.
