I went out on sunday and dropped almost a full second with the fastback and skirts, etc.
The top speed was up 9mph.

I love this thread! Did you feel like your cornering speed or stability was improved with the skirts or was the 1 second/lap drop mostly from the reduced drag in a straight line?

The reduced drag from the fastback made both cars faster. I think mine was faster due to the higher entry speed from the wing. Our top speeds were almost the same. ( the black nb with the other fastback) his car was doing 20km/h slower thru turn one with no downforce.

Now THOSE are RESULTS! Way more noticeable gains than I thought they'd be.

I went out again on saturday. The weather was better (cooler). I decided to change classes in our club allowing me to put on a straight thru muffler and pod filter. As well as keep the fastback on. So this time i went 2 seconds faster. I am only about 2 seconds off my best time in my 1.6 turbo car that had no interior, all metal cut out, carbon fibre hardtop and doors, etc.
It was a wrx day that our club went with. I managed to beat every mx5 inc turbo, and worked n/a cars. And beat all the wrx's except 4. So the package is really good considering i am running a standard motor, gearbox, diff, ecu, brakes and all bushes etc are original.

Is there a reason you haven't gutted your rear bumper and hacked it up a bit more?

Yes, this os not my race car. As such I only spend minimum time and money on it. If you look at my 1st 1.6 turbo car, it had everything cut out and removed. Including seatbelt towers and complete parcel shelf area. I do know how to make these cars light as possible. The carbon fibre car should be light.

Well, not much happening on the c.f car. I am still waiting on the engine. I made the doors, then sold them. And I am making 3 more sets of doors at the moment. The plan is to make a few bits, sell them, then buy the last few things to finish the car. I doubt it will be done any time soon. the fastback was the last major piece to fabricate for the body. So now that i have the mold I will make one soon for the c.f car, and stick it on.

Update- the plan is to try get as much done on the c.f car as I can. And hope the engine gets finished this year.

Ordering the Coilovers soon. Getting the bushes done now for the suspension. Bought the 15x10" 949racing wheels. Old 225/50/15 Yoko's getting fitted today, so i can set everything up. Bought a race seat, steering wheel. Doors are on the car. But I have to mount the rear 1/4's properly so I can get the doors to sit in the right place. And I will be using some hd foam blocks inside the doors for crash boxes. Then I can put the door skin on.

Give me the suspension arms and I can remove the old bushes.
The new ones go in easy with your hand and/or a set of multigrips.

I'm assuming Beavis lives there too since multigrips seems to be the upside-down word for channel locks.
