Pretty much the norm around here. They are fuchsia, not pink.

Making a couple with carbon/Kevlar. Not much advantage I think. Guys want the Kevlar for shatter resistant qualities. I think if you smash the roof, your in a lot of trouble anyway. It is harder to cut and sand.

Nice! Looks good. Did the resin not flow well over the right side on the CF? Can't tell if that's a weird reflection or if the fabric is printing through/not enough resin coverage.

Why would he want kevlar...? There is a reason airplanes don't use it. It's not stiff! Just extra weight.

Oh well, the customer is always right!

I would pay good money for some NB replacement fenders and rear quarters that look like they could have been a stock widebody and have enough clearance for a 15x10 with 275s.

It sure would be nice for fenders, splitters, and bumpers though (carbon/kevlar hybrid weave). More resilient when you hit things. Straight kevlar would be nice for the bottom of the splitter for the abrasion resistance rubbing on the ground. But on a hard top?

It's actually perfect. Carbon fibre is very tricky to take photos of. Sometimes you might get a slight dry area. But not this one.

I could have done the normal wide body for my car. But the boxed guards are quicker and easier to make. And will be better for aero. You have to remember the carbon fibre car is all my own time and money.

I bet shipping to the states would be expensive

I bought a 2001 MX5 to use a test development mule. Will be my track/road car till the Carbon Fire MX5 is done.

I decide to put a fastback on it, so I can start working out the rest of the internal frame work. In the pics I cut a trunk frame out, and bonded it to the fastback. And started on the side window frames.

Bother side frames are in now. Need to trim them, and tidy up. Took a pic with the front and rear spoilers on. I will colour match everything silver so it doesn't stand out too much on the road.

I spent a fair amount of time on the fastback to get it to this stage. Still need to separate the trunk, and make the rear inner frame work.

Brand new clutch with less than 100 miles disintegrated.

Video of when it broke. Literally put it in, and drove to the track, did 3 laps.
