I just used a pry bar to pop out the axles while I am lowering the diff if they are single part axles. If 2 part axles I just unbolt the 2 parts.
Yeah, they're 1 piece axles.

Feeling cautiously optimistic. At work right now trying to bank a little OT, will start working on it in about 3 hours.

Another pro tip is if you have a transmission jack to use that to lower the diff. Much more stable then a normal car jack.

I have the full undertray in my garage. Removed it to get to things. I'll probably put it back on because otherwise Andrew will write me off as a lost cause.

I don't have one of those, but i do have TheNuge26's HF aluminum jack right now. Has a big pad.

I'm not worried about that part. I'm good at doing stupid human tricks.

I almost dropped my diff on my face using a regular jack. Won't try that **** again w/o something better. Ratchet strap sounds like a better idea.

Bad day.

Shop that pressed my bearing into my driver's rear spindle destroyed the bearing and the spindle.

Diff has been replaced before. Had a hard time with it because fucktard who did the job didnt bother lining anything up and just impacted the **** out of everything.

Passenger axle is.... Snapped. So much wtf.

Top hats still dont fit through shock tower.

Now in panic mode.

Friggin' nightmare man, sorry to hear it.

What parts do you need? I've got a passenger side spindle you can have for cheapsies if you need it. I had a driver side spindle and axle (stuck together) but scrapped them.

Hope you can get it sorted soon, no fun.

I too have an NB spindle. Not sure what side. My other one has an axle stuck in it too.

I need driver's side, and i'd need it in my hands by like... Thursday.

Need: Driver's side spindle, passenger side axle. If anyone has something they want to hook me up with, please speak now before i take a chance on shipping times through Ebay.

I can get a "new" axle for $63 shipped, but it's coming from CA via UPS ground. Good used spindles off an 03 (zomg sport brakez shields?) for $78, coming from Texas. Used axle from Flurduh.

None of them have expedited shipping options, so there's a chance i'd be getting this **** on like.. next Tuesday, which means an alignment won't be necessary. (I leave Wednesday morning.)

Bad day.

Got the diff out.
20150711_181714 by concealer404, on Flickr

Realized that some monkey had replace the diff before (probably last time it was wrecked), and they obviously didn't bother to line up everything right before hitting everything with what must have been a 1" impact, so these stupid nuts had machined new lips in the aluminum spacer and completely fucked every spline. Which 1) Explains why i had such a hard time and 2) ensured that the new diff wasn't going back up in the car.

After a few hours in the freezer, the Delrin diff mounts went right in.
20150711_194135 by concealer404, on Flickr

Rears fit just fine. Still need to work on the top hats for the front some more, apparently. Just barely too big still. Blah.
20150711_194036 by concealer404, on Flickr

Finally got the rest of the endlinks out of the damn arms.
20150711_203703 by concealer404, on Flickr

More WTFs:
1) Shop i paid to press a new bearing in the driver's side spindle didn't install the new seal i provided them. Upon further investigation, there were bad burning smells, and a realization that the bearing didn't turn smooth. Additionally, the bearing was blatantly pressed in ****-eyed, and now the bearing and spindle are both destroyed. Thanks, ******* idiots. Not only did i waste $120 on parts and labor, now i get to find a new spindle before i can even put this ******* car on the ground.
2) Pulling the passenger axle out, looked like the joint had slipped out of the cup. After 20 minutes of wrestling with it trying to get it back in, i realize that what i'm trying to get back in is NOT the joint, and rather, the axle itself had ******* snapped AT the joint. WTF. I drove this ******* thing with a snapped axle, the only thing holding it together was the boot.

FML.

I leave on the morning of the 22nd.

You don't want me tuning anything.

I do believe vteckiller2000 will be saving the day. Just waiting on price for the spindle. Advance has the axle back in stock, can be to my door for about $70.

Yeah this is pretty much the worst sub-100k mile Miata ever.

Right now trying to decide if i want to attempt to fit an OEM fan back on with the huge radiator and enormous bar, or if i want to suck up the $40 i kinda don't comfortably have and throw a slim fan on it.

I need to get your **** ready tomorrow. Find out which fan i'm supposed to be sending you and i'll text you a bunch of pictures with stupid questions attached then.

Hopefully the OEM will work for you with some trimming.

No rush getting my stuff together man, you got your hands full. Get this thing back together!
