any reason not to just toss in some pistons at that point?

seems redundant to put oem pistons in with the other parts when a bore and hone is $80-100.

honestly its just the ease of everything. cold starts i can just go (im ---- when it comes to forged **** as im a stickler for letting it warm all the way up before i drive) and there really isnt a need considering its not gonna see any track time.

Remove billet pump gears, install pistons. Why do you want the billet gears?

first layer is done on the outside. Now i have to do the inside, then wrap the outside with gold heat film, then do one more layer of fiberglass on the outside, then cover it one more time with gold heat film. overkill yes but the air inside will be cool alright. oh yeah, i have to fiberglass some mounting tabs on it as well

ill have the box done by this weekend. ill post more pics then.

NOW, I need input here. In liu of this discovery here about rods:

https://www.miataturbo.net/engine-performance-56/crankshaft-depot-ebay-rods-52586/

http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/74699-my-...agle-rods.html

I made the ebay sell an low ball offer but even so, if i get the rods for 230 then thats still a helluva deal.

The thing im debating now on is pistons. Do I go with forged or my stock 94's or MSM's and buy new rings from here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-05...item2eac439f36

I see no reason why my stock pistons wont handle 380 rwhp with meth. The forged are only there for over sizing and detonation resistance. Other wise i see no reason. I can still make that power with stock pistons safely i think.

If I go this route, it will put my new build like this:

Egay rods - 230
Piston rings - 130
ACL bearings - 130
Gates Timing belt - 60
I already have APR main studs

That puts me at $550.00

Give up while you're still ahead... well, ahead of another failed motor.

Do it right and get pistons. You will regret not having them.

And $206.00 later I now have purchased my egay special rods. I cant wait to get them next week.

Im not doing forged pistons. That being said, which pistons do you ladies think I should use with a choice being my 94 pistons or my MSM pistons with a slightly higher compression ratio?

Im also keeping the redline on this coming motor at 7000-7300 rpms to be nice to the oil pump. I want 350-385 rwhp with the meth turned on. Im gonna get piston rings for the pistons but you think I should do OEM or these which actually are OEM manufactures for alot of car companies

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

*Edit* holy crap I realized just now that auctions for the pistons too.

I would think the lower comp pistons would be better, especially with stock pistons and high boost.
