you forgot the part where I didn't care...
centrifugal turbos, yes I've driven on them, on a small displacement motor, will always be and has always been considered a joke, and I will continue to treat them as such.
Even on 5.0L v8 I didn't prefer it to a TT setup on the same motor, or even just a 500 shot of nitrous.
IB4 Emilio comes in and says a bunch of stuff about how easy they are to drive and im dumb.

I don't post it in everyone. I used to post shitty greddy kit dynos compared to other rotrex setups.
like:
I only posted it here because someone else posted that $50K dyno and I like to troll, be annoying, and simply do things that **** others off and entertain myself; especially on a turbo site.
And hell, I just did the same in Curly's dyno thread. And he's a mod, and has a turbo...

I think OP should keep his rotrex... AND GO TURBO
Twincharged ****. Mad crazy spoolin plus teh exhaust scavengings for +1 horespoewrs...!
Just need to figure out how to squeeze a turbo behind that poopercharger.

If you were here more often, you'd see I ninja edit like every post I make. i edited post 166 like 5 times before i was finally done.
everyone has an edit button for the first 10 minutes or so of a post, that's not an abuse if everyone can do it. I simply added information, i dont believe it made me look "any better"
when i start editing your posts...then you can cry about admin tomfoolerly. there is no thing as abuse when you make up the rules.

I'm just wondering about the pulley ratio and the size of that particular head unit.
A Rotrex C30-94 is rated at 0.39 kg/s at the top end, that's 51.59 lb/min for us 'Mericans. A Borg Warner EFR 6258 is "only" rated at 44lb/min according to the boys at FullRace.
I dunno... just seems... off. Though I will admit, I don't know how to read a compressor chart.

The rotrex cannot (and will never) win area under the curve arguments. That's also why it will probably never be seen in any racing classes that allow forced induction mods - witness Crusher getting a 6258. Unless the racing organization does something convoluted with how they define and allow power adders, the turbo will win.
Where the rotrex wins, for some people, is simplicity and reliability. You cannot get boost creep. You don't have massive underhood temps to deal with. You don't have studs backing out/loosening. Installation and removal are pretty simple and straightforward. For about 220whp or so on a stock vvt engine, it's a sound choice for a weekend warrior looking to do reliable track days with more power. Built engine not required. At these power levels the torque line is more reasonably level. It just feels like a bigger motor.
If you want to go racing with more power than that, you should probably go turbo, and do everything that Andrew says to do to keep it reliable. And keep a close eye on whatever info Emilio lets drop about what they're doing to Crusher. And learn from Hustler's build thread.

I think one of the issues is that they have not figured out what the right supercharger housing is for the Miata. There are more than just one manufacturer of superchargers out there, and more housing sizes also.
Keep in mind how many turbo housing options there are on the market today, and how much time has been given to select the right housing for a Miata. Much more can be done in the centrifugal camp to make them work properly.
Remember when some of you were laughing at me because I thought a valve controlled the overall boost on a centrifigal? I knew I was not crazy and that they existed somewhere.

I suspect that a larger blower housing with an overall boost controller would have a better chance of having a turbocharged power and torque curve.

And I agree completely.
Props.
