Default 2000 Mazda Miata - $7500 OBO

Category: Import
Status: Clean Title

I have a 2000 Mazda Miata for sale, in USA - Washington.

Mileage: 171000 miles on body, 1500 on engine.

Asking price is $6600 OBO

It is with a heavy heart that I must part with my project. Work has taken me places where driving is inconvenient at best, and most of my life is stuck in traffic or on a train. I don't give this car the attention I wish that I could, and it sits undriven most days of the week because I just don't have the time, or energy to continue on the journey I started with this car.

I built this engine with the intent of turbocharging the car, but I have ran out of time and motivation to finish the project. The reality that is my work life, and my wanderlust are motivating me to go to the next thing. The car is rock solid and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. The clutch is stiff, and a little tricky to get the hang of, but I daily drove this for months in Portland I-5 traffic so I know it's possible for anyone to master as I have.

The car is a 2000 Mazda Miata MX-5 LS with ~170k miles on it. The LS means that you get fancy stuff like the exterior appearance package (rear mud painted mud guards, side skirts, front lip spoiler), leather interior, Torsen rear differential, and BOSE audio. I have great news for you, I have removed all the crappy BOSE stuff in the car and replaced the head unit and speakers with quality Alpine pieces, including an Alpine 4-channel amplifier located in the trunk powering the speakers. The car also has a color matching hardtop. The paint on the hardtop is in good shape, but it is starting to peel near the bottom of the rear window.

When I got the car it had a totally tan interior, which I hated. I am most of the way through a black interior swap, and have replaced the entire dashboard with a black dash, and have installed the upgraded and much sought-after 2001+ center console in black, which has cup holders and is much nicer to look at than the 99-00 console. I also swapped in a gauge cluster from a 2002 so you get a nice red backlit instrument cluster instead of the dated green backlit unit it came with. I transferred odometer units from the original cluster so the mileage is accurate.

It's all sounding pretty wonderful right? That's because it is. There are only a few small issues with the car. The first is that about a year ago I was backed into sitting at a stop sign by a guy in a super cool Evo, and his giant exhaust cut the bumper a bit and damaged the paint. You can see this in the pictures below. The factory lip spoiler is cracked in half from me hitting a work boot in the road and breaking it. I have attached it to the bumper with zip ties and you can hardly tell there's an issue. The fog lights are missing, and have been since I purchased the car, previous owner must have removed them. The catalytic converter on the car was clogged and I had intended to change the exhaust out at some point so I just jammed a stick through it and cleaned it out, it leaks and rattles a bit, and this causes a check engine light for "catalyst efficiency below threshold" but that's a reasonably easy fix.

I recently put brand new tires on the car, and they have less than 200 miles on them. They are Dunlop Direzza DZ-101 in 205/50/15 size.

This car has a clean WA state title, and I have it in-hand.

I would like $7500 OBO for this car, and I am somewhat flexible, so feel free to make me a reasonable offer.

Here are the pertinent details:

ENGINE: (~1500 miles on the engine since I put it together)

Tomei Poncam Cams
