The group is also pissed because the gun club shot down a drone that SHARK had flown over a pigeon shoot to try and film it... can't make that stuff up.

How does anybody take any group seriously when they write like this:
Pigeon shoots are vile competitions where thousands of birds are shot, killed or suffer terrible wounds and crippling pain.

These innocent animals are neither fed nor given water for days before the shooting starts, so that they will be easier targets. Suffering from dehydration and starvation, they are then launched out of small wooden boxes and into a storm of gunfire. Wracked with pain from searing buckshot lacerations, some will twist and fall from the sky with broken wings and backs. Other will escape, though death comes slowly for these poor birds for it may take days for them to succumb to their wounds.

This is how they feel about rodeos:
Forget the myth of rodeos as all-American sport. Modern rodeos are cruel and deadly for animals. Traditional ranch work has been perverted into a spectacle of animal abuse disguised as "western tradition." Today's rodeos bear little resemblance to ranch work where care was taken to not injure animals. Modern rodeos are nothing more than western-themed circuses with contestants wearing John Wayne costumes and racing against the clock in a cruel spectacle for cash prizes all to sell sugar water, alcohol, and automobiles to the fans. And it's the animals who pay the price, from being electrically prodded to make horses and bulls appear wild to the countless injuries animals suffer from contestants who only care about beating the clock and winning cash before moving on to the next rodeo in the next city.

Anyone with a heart knows it's wrong to clothesline a baby animal, body slam it to the ground, tie its legs so it can’t move, and drag it by the neck. If this were done to a puppy or kitten, the offender would understandably be charged with a crime, and likely be jailed. In rodeos, however, it's called calf roping, and supporters claim it’s a sport. But the abuse of baby cows is just one of rodeo’s cruelties. Read further and watch some of SHARK's video proof from years of rodeo investigations.

******* Bob Barker... I'm all for spaying and neutering pets, and even kinda hope the Whale Wars guys win someday... but supporting this group of morons eliminates your credibility on all fronts.
I dont care who you are or what group you are with--some citizens don't get special treatment over others.

In VA, tearing down those signs would get your arrested like this 80yo lady: http://news.yahoo.com/woman-80-arres...170254591.html

Durham case raises questions about police use of Tasers - WNCN: News, Weather for Raleigh. Durham, Fayetteville

Quote:
DeBaun had been drinking and was carrying a pack of beer when Kuszaj stopped him near the intersection of Calvin and Holloway streets.

"DeBaun's attorney, Alex Charns, said DeBaun asked the officer, "Am I under arrest?"

"When the officer said no, Mr. DeBaun left," Charns said. "Mr. DeBaun was Tasered in the back and when the Taser deployed, he became paralyzed. He went face first into a concrete sidewalk."

Charns said DeBaun faces $40,000 in medical and reconstructive surgery bills as a result. He said DeBaun was found not guilty of disorderly conduct and being drunk and disruptive. The case has been in and out of court since.

The Court of Appeals will decide whether to overturn a previous decision and allow DeBaun to sue the city and let the case go to trial. DeBaun wants thousands in damages and also wants chances in the department policy allowing the use of Tasers.

The city of Tulsa has agreed to pay $300,000 to settle its part of a lawsuit filed by a woman who was freed from federal prison after corruption within the Tulsa Police Department was uncovered, attorneys confirmed Thursday.

Larita Barnes had filed the case on Aug. 6, 2010, slightly more than a year after she was freed from custody.

She alleged that she was deprived of her rights and illegally incarcerated after Jeff Henderson, a former undercover officer in the Tulsa Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, and Brandon McFadden, a former agent of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, coached a drug informant and fabricated a drug buy in May 2007.

Have you a warning sign at the end of your driveway?

No one needs to put up a sign stating that intentionally being an ******* has it's own consequences. It's the first rule of natural selection.

See, this is the **** that pisses me off. As if cops being armed with ******* AR's would have played any factor in the Boston marathon bombing. They can't even use pistols responsibly, so I sure as hell don't want them carrying AR-15's.

Well, I actually agree with both of their descriptions of Pigeon shoots and rodeos. Seems pretty accurate, and I do find it cruel. Not to the point that I'd picket or publicly shame people, but I would choose not to take part of spectate either event. Not sure why you find that so moronic.

It looked like a public road in a rural commercial area. They have every right to put up signs there, just as they would have every right to put signs in your yard on the side of the road. You'd shoot someone for putting a sign up in your yard... issues much?

And yeah, they are being the dicks. Did you watch the video? The crazy PGC guys opened fire on the guys in the boat in the river, and nothing was done about it.

I really cannot say that I agree with you.

If people did those things to breeds of animals we consider pets they would be punished.

Exactly. Some people only see things that way with typical pet animals, others feel that way about all animals. I take the middle ground. I just can't see how Roger could say supporting animal rights and opposing cruelty to animals as moronic. I guess putting up signs to oppose a gun club is moronic?

Supporting animal rights? Like to vote? Or freedom of speech? Maybe right to bear arms?

Animals should not be abused, but shooting them has been going on since there have been guns. That some think hunting is cruel does not automatically mean that they get a pass on being dicks about it.

True, shooting animals has gone on since the invention of guns. I guess that means it should just always be that way then, right? There were always slaves in society since the dawn of civilizations, I guess we should keep doing that too right? Explain to me again how they are being dicks?

And yes, I understand shooting animals vs slavery isn't apples to apples, but it illustrates my point.

I wonder about the mental health of folks who like to shoot animals out of cages.
I shot critters for sport when I was a kid. I was not mentally healthy though. Seeing close up some that I wounded killed my enthusiasm. I eventually came to shoot things to eat or that were nuisance.
If I had pigeons caged I'd prefer to just butcher them and not be biting into shot then.
Were I to want to actively oppose animal cruelty I would probably just have falling out with the PETA sorts.

That's how I feel on the subject as well. I used to shoot things with a bb gun or .22 when I was a kid, but as I've gotten older, I don't get any joy from it. Even with the nuisance animals I still feel a bit guilty seeing them squirming and twitching wounded on the ground. They were just living, doing their own thing. I don't see that I really had any right to take their life, even if they are just a nuisance animal. Good point on the caged animal thing, I had never thought of it that way. That's just people with a need to kill something releasing their pent up primal urges. I'd rather just save the animals the unneeded torment and just kill them quickly with a head chopping and move on.

Now, I guess we need to get back on track in this thread before Brainy comes in and lays down the law.

I'm just a noob but I suppose you're right.
I had a pause for thought before posting about the flute smashing if it counted as brutality or just random bestial stupidity.
Maybe I should not disparage beasts comparing them to Customs or NSA or TSA or whoever I have read various claims of whoever saved us from them aged handcrafted flutes that no amount of money could replace. - I suppose that Judge Judy would award the replacement price of the bamboo.
