What a tool, he even has a website http://www.freenasserabdo.org/
Now, I have served with Muslims and they never made a big deal out of it; I think this fruit cake just wants to take the easy way out. Discuss...

This is one problem I have with the US. We are so concerned about hurting peoples feelings, that we refuse to profile individuals. Go through airports around the world and see if you see any profiling. F*** yeah you do. Cause muslims blow up ******* planes. Kidding. Seriously though; I don't think we should let people in the military if their religious convictions are so strong that they are willing to defy or harm the government with which they are working.
How are all of the Navy guys going to feel about Levnubin buttsexing around the ship like a lot lizzard.

Conscientious objection is a legitimate claim against conscription. But volunteering for military service, at a time when the army in question is already engaged in combat operations which involve direct conflict with persons who are self-described as members of the religion which you cite as your own justification for refusal to participate in combat operations is desertion (and also just plain stupid.)
I can't even understand why this is being discussed. Court martial, Leavenworth, dishonorable discharge. He'll write a book, nobody will read it, and when he gets out, Oprah will give him a car which will subsequently be vandalized by redneck hicks. End of story.

What I don't understand is why he joined as a grunt? Damn, if he had ANY thought of not wanting to go to war and/or killing bodies he should have been a support MOS. He just cannot hack being a grunt, and is using being Muslim as a excuse. There are plenty of Muslims serving and he needs to stop acting like he is the only one.

You guys crack me up. First 1/2 the forum supports the construction of a mosque near the WTC. Now you all say, "hang the m-er f-er". Make up your minds. As for me and my thoughts...if you're in the armed forces of the united states of America, and you fail to comply with orders, well...you're ******* hosed then. Jail time / severe punishment should be issued.

how are those conflicting viewpoints? A community center that happens to have 2 floors (of over a dozen) devoted to worship, 2 blocks from and not visible by those at ground zero, where there actually IS a mosque at ground zero that been operational since before the WTC was even built
VS.
A douche that entered the service knowing we were fighting muslims and is now playing the religion card like he's the only ****** being asked to do the damn job.
^yep we need to make up our minds because those are exactly the same...

Why the **** did he join then if he didnt want to deploy? Not much of a loss anyways. His ******* arms look like they belong on a 11 year old girl.
I hope this doesn't cause a huge uproar me saying this and all, but I'll say it.
With the way things are now, and the direction our country is going down, I have a feeling all this muslim boo hoo poor us BS is going to be the new "you hate me cause I'm black" kind of cry for help.

Some of you people are idiots. Either that, or you're deliberately taking our of your ***.
Hanging / shooting / etc of this fellow ain't the answer. For starters, it would make him a martyr, and I'm pretty sure that we don't need any more of those right now. But it's also unjustifiable. Desertion is not treason, and while I'm not sure whether this would be construed as AWOL or Missing Movement, either way, only one US serviceman has been put to death for it since the American Civil War. (And that was during WWII)
Do you even have any clue how common desertion is? Depending on whose report you believe, 10,000 to 40,000 over the past 10 years in the US Armed Forces. You wanna put every single one of them against a wall, or only the brown ones?
I think that's pretty much the long and short of it. Sounds like his battalion CO has got his head on straight, I think most of the noise right now is coming from the same uninformed civilian douchebags who think Obama is a Muslim and they're building a ******* Mosque complete with minaret directly on the ruins of 1 WTC right next to the PATH station.

While I wouldn't feel bad if the guy got his *** whooped, he hasn't yet put anyone's life in danger and since he spoke out before the opportunity arose, he'll get the usual.
More than likely, some combination of (or all):
-Paying back his salary to the gov't
-Leavenworth
-Dishonorable discharge
There are plenty of ways to get filtered out in the military. It's astounding how many kids will get sent home even after completing basic training, when they decide they can't handle/don't want to do their jobs. Usually those not cut out for it don't get too far.

Case in point: a guy in my section who's been caught stealing from the shopette (gas station on post essentially)twice in the past two weeks, can't make it to formation/work by himself at all, is now on 24 hour watch, all this after he got admitted to a German psych ward and went AWOL for a week and a half after being released.... You'd think after all that he'd pretty much be on his way home right? Nope, gotta be all PC and give him a chance to "turn himself around," he ***** up again it'll be about 6 months of paperwork before he goes home.
Oh as for the Muslim guy, he joined the Army AS AN INFANTRY man, while this country is actively fighting people of his faith in both Iraq and Afghanistan and now wants to ditch deployment and use being Muslim as an excuse.... he might as well be charged with desertion and gotten rid of, I'd say hung but like Joe said, would just make him yet ANOTHER PR martyr.
