A customer of mine in Canada did the later Viper head machining of the ports and chambers. Everything was specified including the stepover based on the FEA modeling. Once they were cut, no further processing was allowed (I.E. sanding or other abrasive tooling). Each head/chamber/port could be replicated. Amazing what you can do with a machine tool today.

I got out of machine work about 2003 or so and it was damn amazing what we were doing even back then. The newer machines with the built in CMMs and automatic edge finders must be a dream to work with. You haven't lived until you've had to manually set zero offsets on everything in a 80 station changer.
Yes, sweet baby jesus please. It makes my fingers tingle just to look at those edges. My boss would have murdered me had I cut that and turned it in for QC.

Don't sand the runners. Tell people they are boundary layer turbulators and that they reduce the thickness of the boundary layer as well as reducing its impact on flow velocity.
