Like the title says, I learned what overspool is the hard way, my radial bearings are fried since I've been breaking in and testing the rebuilt motor w/ the turbo venting to atmosphere and all exhaust flow going to turbo. It took ~60miles. :(

I don't have megasquirt running yet, and want to run "safely" at zero boost since I assume that the stock computer won't deal w/ boost.

So, I'm rebuilding the turbo again, once that's done will it be safe to run with:
-Wastegate spring taken out (Tial external wastegate)
-Turbo (TD05 16G) lines and tubes all connected (oil, water, compressor, turbine)
-Stock air filter, MAF sensor, and IAT bolted to inlet of compressor

it might be easier to pull the turbo out of the tubine housing and bolt a block off plate there instead.

otherwise the turbo, even can still make a few pounds of boost.

also, you've idled and drawn vacuum out of the motor....it's broken in.

I did when my turbine blade came apart. It wasn't too bad like that (OE rated ~145chp/ftlbs.) - a little weak on the top end... choke, choke, choke.

Anyone know if the stock ECU can handle a couple psi? The MAF is on the inlet side of the compressor and I have a huge *** intercooler.

Isn't the worst case that AIT is higher than the the ECU reads (since it's before the compressor) and adds a bit too much fuel?

I assume you have a WBO2 meter if you have a turbo, connected or not. Keep an eye on the AFR if it leans out because you develop boost then ease off and stop.

I would think as long as you stay under 13 with just a few pounds you will be fine.
