He's definitely optimistic with those goals (at least the 10-12psi to hit 400 part), but not entirely crazy.

Those K's breathe like a BP only dreams to, and rev high enough that even a large frame turbo still provides 3k rpm worth of powerband. Pretty cool stuff

Yeah I saw a K series acura with a full-race manifold and and 83whateverEFR dyno to 650whp on e85 with almost a 4k rpm wide powerband, of course it was 5k to 9k and I doubt that thing hooked up on the crappy walmart street tires it was on it any gear (that thing was strapped down so tight it was on the bump stops and had half a gallon of VHT on the rollers) but still. (Seriously, I hate car people that arent racers, they spend crazy money on the motor then put the cheapest all seasons they can find on their $3000 wheels, I mean RimZ).

Yeah I think I'm right in the ball park, keep in mind this is a k24a2 we are talking about, not a weak BP

The simplest way to approach it is to realize they aren't actually car people but fashion divas. The car is simply a "i spent money!" clothing accessory to show to their bros and seek approval in their pathetic lives.

To harsh?

Would have gone this route if it was available at the time I did my f20c swap. Thinking about selling it and doing a ls7 conversion with some sort of FI.

Also known as butt dyno. Gaging the power applied to your butt.

So how do the 205 tires putting that power down (or rather, not putting it down) work?

Hes hoping that the slimmer tires will slip instead of the drivetrain getting the shock from the power... IMO just run boost by gear/speed.

That would be my vote. And/or by RPM if possible with engine management being used.

Yeah boost by gear would be perfect, provided you can set up hondata to read vehicle speed some how, with a mechanical speedo drive and no abs on the car I'm not quite sure how to do that.

And would it really be any good to for the weak 4th gear in a 6 speed? i would think by 4th gear you would be putting down all the power.

My point was more that a 205 tire with 400whp or whatever is just ******* silly. For comparison's sake, imagine a Corvette with 205-width tires. More torque, sure, but still. Why aim for that much power if you then limit it with wheelspin?

This is totally doable. Toothed ring around an axle with a "counter" sensor. X number of teeth counted in Y time = speed. My brother did it in his old race car (240SX with VQ35 swap; that combo + Stack gauge cluster needed an adapter of sorts).

I've obviously got no clue about hondata but:
-The early cars have a speed sensor built into the dash regardless of ABS or not. I am running that at the moment but am not having good luck with it.
-Before my T5 swap I ran a MSD speed sensor on the end of the speedometer cable on the transmission end. That worked well from ~10mph on.
-like stinkymonky said, you can get creative and install a hall sensor that picks up something, say the 4 bolts that attach the driveshaft to the diff. That's what i'm planning on next.

I was running a speed sensor to turn off my 2-stage/antilag above a certain MPH, but now using it to limit boost below certain MPH would be a good idea.

I must always make no torque but I don't have much issue in 3rd and above with a 205 tire and i'm probably around 400hp (). first is useless but that's normal for any turbo miata, and second still makes the car go fast it just makes more tire noises while going fast. It's not like you go no where and it gives the sensation of still accelerating harder than no wheel spin/lower boost.

I agree, but you can make the argument that the 'fuse' in your driveline should be either the clutch or the tires. Better those than transmissions, axles, and differentials.

Using 205s at that power level is like having 0 gauge wire and using a 5 amp fuse though

I'd rather break axles than the clutch. Axle swap take 30 minutes and costs $80 to buy a new one from advanced autoparts, a clutch rebuild for me costs $340 and it takes a couple hours to pull the engine and put it back in.

My plan with this set up was a rotrex charger, rotrex = less torque. That will not fit, so I will use turbo. I already have advanti's with 205 direzza dz102. I will not buy expensive race rubber to commute back and forth to work(70 min total) with so I can have 225. When someone makes a 225 street tire I will upgrade. All I'm
Getting at is if I go turbo I will have torque in the breaking range of a 6speed so I hope the 205 saves the tranny.

Just like honda drag racers use stock axles so they break insead of a tranny.

Yes I drift also why I'm not so worried about loss of traction. I don't want to be another lost soul in the "my transmission took out my anus cause I'm running 275 slicks with 400 ftlbs " thread

BFG and Hankook both make 225 street tires.
