Why not look for a way to run an electric power steering rack?

Maybe more cost, plus the oil pan solution is designed around the existing rack with NB geometry that does not have weird bumpsteer issues etc. Going with a new rack might entail sort of throwing away all that development which was one of the central achievments of the kit. Likely easier for everyone to simply have a different bracket than replace the rack.

I wonder though if there is a cheap, readily available semi-universal electric rack solution out there. You have to think that a company that can put out a steering rack kit with some customizability, low space requirements, and a reasonable (whatever that means) price could clean up in certain markets, particularly swaps and kit cars.

The electric pump in the trunk wasnt all that hard.

Its in my build thread. I think someone blogged about a different pump too. I can make a write up once I get 100% of the kinks worked out. My setup is like $300 cheaper than a street setup would be, because I didnt care about varying the steering effort I just run ALLOFIT pump pressure. The more expensive MR-S pump can easily be setup to vary pressure by wheel speed.

Well no, this would work too but i'm talking about completely electric steering rack with no hydraulic fluid.

Good luck finding an electric rack that has the correct length for non fucked up bump steer, has the pinion in more or less the correct spot, and doesnt require a PHD in EE to wire.

That goes to a motor on the steering column, so you would still want to run a manual or depowered maita rack.

That is the simpler way however if u pull the motor a full electric rack is also a good possibility.

Forgot which hondas had the EPS racks.

You're never going to get the inner tie rod position correct. Its just not going to happen. And IIRC the hondas are rear steer so the pinion is on the wrong side.

yeah I'm sure there are 100 ways to do the steering. Everyone will have their own idea, but we are trying to use as many OEM parts as possible, and keep the swap as simple and straight forward as possible. I may be biased, but I think we nailed it with the custom pan and oil pump.

Power steering is one of the last things on my list. The car is so easy to drive without it. A/C is a much greater priority for customers. Plus the front of the car is even lighter than stock now. I daily the test car all the time, no complaints.

Anybody know the thread and size for the steering depower screws?

I want to use some barbs or something. I dont want to hack off the metal lines.

The LP side is M16x1.5 inverted flare, the pressure side is M14x1.5 banjo, at least on the NB power rack. The sizes might be flipped I forget, but LP is definitively inverted flare and pressure is banjo.

Yeah I was thinking of offering a P/S kit on the website. It would only include two 15 pound weights.

I'll have some pics of the second header. I'll tell you this much- First header is a good all around 4-2-1 header that you can run with 2.5" exhaust if you want to. Next header is a ballin' big tube header, 4-1, and 3" exhaust only. Made in the USA.

These were posted on Facebook not to long ago, I really like what I'm seeing. They said it picked up 6 whp and 12 ftlbs over the last header

Goodbye miata window washer bottle. The factory wiring harness will also need to be shielded from radiant heat from the header.

I don't think wiring will be a issue, but this will fix washer bottle
