Default 1.6L v. 1.8L Ignitor

Are the 1.6 and 1.8L ignition control modules the same? I assume not but figured it's worth a shot askin.

as in the ignitors and coils or the ECU section? /The coils and ignitors no but a 1.6 ecu can run a 1.8 on 1.6 coils and the same for a 1.8. So probably a no on both counts.

1.8 coils have integrated ignitors and no tach output
1.6 coils use an external ignitor, and the ignitor has a tach output.

yes, you could wire up your 1.8 coilpack to work on your 1.6 motor, but you'd have to figure out what your'e going to do about your tach. the ms does have a tacho output if you build the circuit. turbotim did it, and he's running tach off his aem standalone (i guess).

i'd tell you to search, but you'd just have a ****-**** attitude.

that's what i figured, since the coils were different the ignitors had to be different also..(or most likely would be)

pre '99? 1.8L has tach output. Whatever years they had them on the back of the head. I know 94-97 have tach output.
