Is there any MPG increase from 6-speed/3.63?

Check the gear ratios.
Hence my previous suggestion. If you don't want to open the 5 speed (which isn't that hard), instead you could get an S4 RX7 5 speed and switch the housings with the Miata trans. That would get you the S4 gearing in a Miata package. The S4 gearing is wider than the Miata. Coupled with a 3.9 rear would make a nice daily.
MSPNP costs what 1/3 the value of a 6 speed and diff swap and requires 0 physical labor. Just sayin'.

I'm back on my unreasonable desire to build a hyper-mile Miata that I can auto-x. 01 bottom end, 99 head, mspnp, 6-speed/3.63...that would be cool. I'd practice lean, cruise tuning on the engine that's in the car though.
I paid $400 for the trans and nothing for the R&P. The MXpnp will cost me $600 for the computer and $200 for another LC-1 when they come back in stock. Labor is free.

Sounds good. I'd probably only change the plan to a full 01 engine. If it's infrequently autocrossed and fuel cost is the paramount concern, I'd also tune it on 87 and 93 and table switch.
I'd suggest MS2 with VVTuner or a full on MS3X as either offers sequential injection, which would be worth a little bit of MPG.

I may go ahead and throw the new gears in the car, at the least is makes the drive exponentially more relaxing. On the way back from my recent road trip I hung the tach at 4600rpm for about 5-hours on cruise so i could get home in time to get the track car aligned.
