Default This turbo blanket is the business!

Install was easy. I saw that others were cutting a notch out of the entire side of the blanket and thought it would be better for integrity just to stick the arm through the blanket. Just use an awl or punch to start the hole and a screwdriver to make it bigger. Do not use a drillbit. The blanket will not interfere in any way with actuation of the wastegate.

Temps in the area are dramatically lower... well worth the $$, a highly recommended item.

Shown on an SR20det T25, fits a lot better than others were guessing it would. These blankets fit snug up against the turbine housing if they're external wastegate... but with internal, it's not gonna be perfect no matter how the turbo is oriented. I'm extremely pleased overall.

I did exactly what you did for the arm.

I've mounted mine upside down from yours... wonder if it's significant? Just by looking, yours appears to fit better. Next time I'm under the hood, I'll have to flip it over and see.

Samnavy, I'm not digging the blankets, but I have DP envy. Although, it does nicely clean up that side of the engine.

^There was a group buy a few weeks back. Check the group buy forum... but I'm sure the buy has ended and all blankets are sold.

They're usually about $130 on eBay.
All of those blankets are the same, brand won't matter... here:

It seems to me flipped around would be better...as it will cover the front section of the flange....

OK... rightside up now. It fits a lot better and now covers the flange and a good portion of the top of the manifold.

Just got mine today. They are impressively heavy. Very nice. Heading out to try and install it. Not easy to reach everything with the S4 mani and every possible option on the car.

Ruh Roh. I don't see any way this thing will fit with the BEGI S4 mani and DP. The support for the mani and supply lines are all very much in the way. Dropping the turbo down it has a lot less room around it. All that metal mesh is sharp. Jeez, I hate metal slivers. This will take a lot of cutting and swearing to get in. Aargh.

Thumbs up

has anyone had any ill effect from blanketing the turbine house. I didnt know if they would cause problems like wrapping a downpipe. But my guess is there wouldn't be any issues. Looks good sam nice setup.

OK, mines on. Had to reach up through wheel well to shove it up behind the turbo up toward the mani. Had to cut slit in end to fit around the oil inlet tube. Not overly pretty but it's on. While I had the heat sheilds off I went ahead and added some heat sheild fabric to those. With the blanket and additional sheilding I'm hoping underhood temps come down some. I'll add pics tomorrow.

Now to finish the splitter/undertray and install the slim fans.

cueball, yours is not on, looks horribly ugly, and even with the car off, raises underhood temperatures by 500 degrees. it is also in your best interest to bite the financial bullet and get rid of it by giving it to me. you like this idea.

Are you guys having any smoking issues? This morning I drove apprxoimately 15 minutes of freeway driving, and the car smelt like ***. Got to work and saw the blanket was smoking...not a huge amount by any means, but enough to see with the hood still closed. Smoke continued for about 10 minutes after I parked...hopefully its just a break in smoke session
