Got my front waterneck blockoff today and went to install it. The freeze plug, which i surrounded with silicone, has stopped halfway. You can't pull it out and it will also have the front blockoff plate on top of it to hold it in. Think it will leak?

Looks fine to me. I didnt even use silicone or anything on mine, just hammered it in. No leaks.

Mine doesn't leak, I used 5mm plate block off with sealant. No freeze plug. So it should work?

OP, just fire up the motor that'll dislodge in no time.....I had to resort to a plug with a plate on top to hold it in place. I may have had the wrong plug, but I wouldn't trust that with partial engagement, hit it harder.

Oh I see that it's not all the way in. Yeah, hit it harder. I really had to hammer mine hard, but it sits flush and doesn't leak. I made a 1/8" steel block off plate too, just for reassurance.

I have both on there too. The only thing that concerns me is the fact that the plug isn't pushed in flush. The blockoff plate then cant sit flush; it bends a little.

Option 1: Keep pounding until its flush. Install blocking plate.
Option 2: Use washers under the blocking plate as a standoff and tighten down blocking plate to act as a retainer.

Seeing this thread made me search for a few things, but is there any advantage to doing this (vs just blocking off the water neck) other than aesthetics?

It just makes the front of the engine bay a good bit cleaner.

Ah thanks! I forgot to order the blockoff when I ordered the reroute so I might just go this route to make routing of everything else easier.

uh, no. Sketchy. Hit it harder. I hit around the edges until the tonality of the strikes changes (hitting the head instead of just the freeze plug). If it doesn't move, hit it harder. If you use something that overlaps with the head, you can't possibly push it in too far.

You can get to it with the timing belt on, when I blew the plug out on initial startup it took me 15 min to fab a plate and install it.
