When the eruption first started, no one knew how intense it would get or what the state of the ice was, so we just went to a good lookout point and snapped pictures from there. that's where the last picture in last post was taken.

Here you see the stream of lava just calmly flowing, really photogenic, but I only had the sigma 70-300 at the time so I was a little limited in zoom/image quality.

Then the lava stream hit a huge patch of ice, causing a steam explosion.

But then later on we decided that we needed to get up there. And I had a 2.0L TDI vitara but hadn't gotten around to lifting it so I would've been stuck soon after getting up on the glacier.

I went with a Suzuki group. The particular car I was travelling with was modified for 50$ if you don't count the second hand wheels and tires.

Getting ready for the climb

on our way

we got there a bit late so I only got pictures in the twilight but that's ok.

A close up

A bit closer

When we were going back one of our buddies grenaded his diff and we did some temp fixed to get it moving again. Ended up getting towed, by a hilux. The tow strap got snagged somewhere on the way down and severed his brake lines. He still drove the 150mile ride home from the glacier, in RWD and using only the handbrake.

But this happened while we were checking up on the damage.

Krispy Kreme glazed are some of the most evil things ever created by man. Someone brought a dozen box of fundraiser doughnuts over and left them on my counter. I thought to myself "I'll just have one before bed". Before I knew what was going on, I HAD EATEN ******* 8!!! Why god!? That's something like a zillion calories.

Yeah, but, but... that **** happens every ******* time. I'll just have one or two. Nope, never gonna happen. I guess I should be more realistic. I've been working so hard getting these last few pounds off of my body before I start hitting the gym double hard, and these doughnuts aren't helping. I almost feel like this was sabotage.

I avoid the sugar-gluten-insulin-spike-death-rings so I don't have to waste time in the gym. And they're bad for you regardless of how much you work out.

I don't "waste time" in the gym to burn calories, only to put good weight on. Being as my sugar intake has been maintained pretty low lately, I have a feeling these will be paying me back tomorrow, somehow.

how about eat one donut and don't pick up any more donuts?

I feel like this is a political conversation. "you gotta pick yourself up by your bootstraps and work hard and then one day you'll be rich!"

You have more willpower and focus than I, good sir. That was my intent, like I said, but I black out and the next thing I know, I've eaten 8, murdered a family and eaten them, burned down my house, smeared feces all over my car, and am now laying in the corner of a room, of a house I don't know, crying into my hands that are now covered in blood, **** and glazed sugar crystals.

Donuts are fried in grease and are full of fat. That by itself is a good reason to limit them to rare occasion

Well, they're probably fried in something like soybean oil, not actual lard. Lard would be better.

I feel your pain. It really is an addiction and has to be cured slowly over time. Might be easier to just eat zero donuts so you don't have the taste of blood in your mouth?

Fat is not the enemy. it's the refined carbs. Fat is good for you. People take fat supplements for health reasons.
