It's a feature of Win10, it's not just placebo or the effect of a clean OS install (though that has an effect as well, I'm sure).

The Pros and Cons of Windows 10?s ?Fast Startup? Mode

For what it's worth, I like Win10 a lot. It's vastly better than 8/8.1, and while Win7 is more familiar to me after using it for years, there's not much that I could really say that Win10 doesn't do as well as Win7.

And, there are a few things that it does much better -- the internal search from the Start menu or taskbar is so fast and accurate that I rarely click through to get to stuff -- just start typing and click my result when it shows up. It's also incredibly fast and stable. I did a clean OS install, not an in place upgrade, which I think makes a big difference in how well it works.

I am going to try to keep it off my HTPC because MS killed off Media Center, and I use that for all my TV/DVR stuff. I know there are some Plex or Kodi solutions but I'd rather not change the entire setup when it works fine right now.

If it's of any concern, the privacy link I posted above also has a Win10 reference with useful information.

Yeah, that is probably my biggest complaint about the entire OS.

Need some random advice.

Picked up an MR2 turbo for a song a month ago. ~200k miles, but still fun.

Deal popped up for an 04 Jetta Diesel Manual with 173k on it.

If I switch to the Jetta I will end up with that car + cash in hand.

Jetta is obviously the smarter choice for a variety of reasons.

What say the gays?

At average Beaverton fuel prices, 40 mpg on diesel is equivalent to 32 mpg on 87 octane.

MR2 gets less than 30 on 91 octane. Maybe even less than 25.

Its also more miles per tank (which is actually kinda important, because filling up during the week means either leaving work at lunch, or dealing with shitty traffic because the cheap gas station isn't on my way home)

You already have a small 2-seater, so the MR2 is totally redundant. Diesel for sure.

Sure, I understand. I just have a thing about people quoting diesel fuel efficiency ratings without compensating for the increased cost of fuel.

Honestly this probably wouldn't have been a choice if the Jetta was available with the MR2 was. Timing is just making this decision harder. But this morning when my shirt got wet, i filled up and got less than 20mpg on premium, and i hit my head on the roof going over a speed bump, I think I made up my mind.

Just looking for persuasion here
