Honestly, I think it is.

Like I said before, I've already done fast-n-furious, and I've had more than my share of cheap & cheerful. Someday I'll finish the Jessica build, stick it in one of the Miatas with a GT28 and start stocking up on spare transmissions. Speed is easy.

But there are some days when it's better to be good-looking than fast.

Who knows... Rip out the whole electrical system from stem to stern and replace it with something reliable, have a proper radiator made by a decent race shop, install a Megasquirt and a set of Dellorto throttle bodies in place of that horrid K-jetronic CIS system, and a 308 GTB-QV might just be a decent car.

Haha. This thread has been extremely therapeutic for me. Nothing like a good solid rant. Like these guys, who did a really thorough and comprehensive review in which they compared a 1984 Ferrari 308 GTSi to a 2007 Kia Sedona. The results may amaze you: http://www.insideline.com/ferrari/30...sedona-ex.html

Agreed. Sounds like a strong argument in favor of the '03 Maserati to me.

Joe,
If you want to look like money but not spend much and want something newer (and slightly more reliable) than the 308, there have been some nice, clean Jaguar xk8s for sale around here for under $10-12k. Since you don't care about fast and just want something with more presence than a Miata without being horrible to find used parts for... just another idea.

Well, this thread has now officially gone off the deep end.

edit: I am, however, liking the XK8 idea. Not for me, perhaps, but for the OP, I'd definitely put it in the running with the Maserati. I'm finding tons of them in the '00-'05 neighborhood with 40k-50k typically, in the high $teens to low $20s. Even a couple of XKRs finding their way down into this price range.

Oddly, not a lot of them seem to be coupés. I think that'd be my preference for this car.

Ah, here we are. A 2006 with 28,796 miles: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Good choice.

It depends on what your daily drive entails and what you need to carry. I have a Mustang for a family car too, but I only have one kid.

My daily is a 03.5 G35 6MT sedan. You can pick the early ones up for 12-15k, they are quick enough to be fun, they are very reliable, and have most of the luxury features one might want.
