So I just swapped cases (Old one was ****, had no sides, falling apart, you get the gist of it) and now it won't boot. Nothing even comes up on the screen.

Keep in mind this was working 100% before the swap. Occasionally though, it wouldn't boot. It'd just sit at the bios.

Anyways, what happens is I hit the button to turn it on, everything whirres up. Fans, hard drive, CD, that sort of thing. But, no signal to the screen. And the two warning LEDs are on on the videocard. But I know it's not the videocard, since I tested it with another couple.

And then, no buttons work. At all. The CD drive won't open, the reset button does nothing, and I can't turn it off even if I hold down the power button.

I've reflashed the bios, tried every possible jumper setting, tried it without ANY peripherals, and still no go.

Dead motherboard? Time for a new one?

swap back to the old case? lol

Sounds like your problem might be related to the new case.... any significant differences? I swapped my Lenovo into a gaming case, had to make some mods for the motherboard to fit and then had to do some wiring up to get eveything working as it did in the factory case.

Still having issues with my power button, but of course, it was a used gaming case...

Power supply? Are you using the same one from the original case?

What are the specs? What kind of pc, operating system and case did you come from and go to?

I seriously doubt it's the case, but it's worth a shot. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new motherboard for 130.

It's a 650w BFG PSU
C2D @ 3ghz
P5Q-SER mobo
Raedon 4850
2 gigs of DDR-II 800 ram.

Like I said, everything was working before, and there's no changes at all besides the new case.

I think the mobo has been on it's way out for a while, but the problem is I can't tell if it's the mobo or something else since a, b, c or d can cause Z as opposed to just one causing Z. Z being my problems, for the slow

check to make sure the ram is seated properly. Double check the connections to the MOBO, a small two pin connector used to always through me for a loop.

Tried multiple ram sticks and configurations. Nothing.

The main reason I think it's a dead mobo is because it turns on with the power button, but it doesn't turn off, no matter how long it's held down. I've had extremely similar problems before, but those would always turn off if i held down the button.

Unplug everything from the motherboard but the power supply and cpu stuff and see if it still exhibits the unresponsive behavior.

Got a speaker plugged into the front panel header? It could be beeping codes at you if it doesn't have one built onto the mobo.

Do you have any other power supplies you could try?

Thanks for the advice guys, I figured it out. One of the power plugs wasn't seated properly so the processor wasn't getting power.

I once built a cpu and the MB had a boot jumper, and had to be in a certain position to start for the first time. When I finally figured it out (RTFM) I felt dumbz

That was going to be my suggestion. Glad you figured it out.

The other thing that usually happens is that the PS in the new case isn't big enough for the motherboard, it can do similar things.
