Totally serious post:
If you've got an hour to kill while all the popular kids are watching sportsball today, and you'd like to learn a bit about the making of the most epic rock ballad ever to come out of western civilization, the brainchild of a pickle-kisser who died of AIDS, watch this full-screen with good speakers or headphones:

Actually, it's not. This is:
The number of women graduating with college degrees has exceeded the number of men since 1981, and the gap continues to widen:
And yet, women tend disproportionately to major in relatively low-paying fields (education, psychology, social sciences, arts, etc), whereas men tend disproportionately to major in relatively high-paying fields (science, engineering, math, physics, etc):
So, yeah... No real surprise here, unless you consider working 40 hours a week as a social worker or a teacher to be "equal" to working the same number of hours as a software developer or a civil engineer, in which case it's no secret that the market disagrees. The only "solution" to this is, well... literally communism.

If I owned a business and I found out that I could hire a woman to do a man's job, equal labor, for 73 cents on the dollar...
Let's just say that, capitalistically speaking, women would find their unemployment rate falling to near zero all across the country.
And not to be sexist or anything, but not only would I have an all-female workforce, but I'd step down and put a female CEO in charge of it - and then I'd sit back and collect 27% of my entire total previous payroll while sitting on a beach somewhere.
Obviously this isn't the case.
"In capitalist America, job pays YOU!"

For those who like all the Boston Dynamics critters, here's a (somewhat poor) video of the company founder, Marc Raibert, giving a presentation. It includes a lot of old stuff we've all seen, but there is also some new, and very interesting, stuff as well.

In Chicagoland for Joe P:
Rare 1981 VW Puma GTI - $5500 (Mokena)
1981 Brasilian built Puma GTI. All mechanical parts are easily obtainable VW parts. More info can be found on Puma GTI on Wikipedia. Car runs and drives well but one front tire rubs the wheel flare and will need thinner front tires. Only 87,000 km on odometer, Car looks decent but could use paint. Car comes with hard to find original puma fan shroud and exhaust not yet installed. Good clean Illinois title in my name. Call 7O8 269 6427.

Too bad your driveway is now fucked up to hell and back.
Actually the reason is because the entire 79 cents or whatever the bullshit number is now days is completely wrong. They got that number by taking all of the earnings for all the men in the country and compared them to all of the earnings of the women in the states for x amount of years and then called it "woman makes less than a man, crucify the men" bullshit. They didnt bother looking into how much time both sexes worked, they didn't bother looking at the fields, they didnt even bother normalizing to compare the numbers of workers, they just took the average on record of all gross income for both sexes and compared it... well no **** a man will make more than a woman. On average in their entire life time a woman works almost 1/3rd less hours than a man. Women usually spend couple of years at home with the kids while the man works 25 hours a day. Even when you compare women without kids, men will stay late and work over time way more often than most women. If you have someone that works the minimum and someone that stays after often to advance the company, who will you promote? Doesn't take a genius to figure that out. At last, as you pointed out, men will take higher paying fields and then that brings up the whole other bullshit of "men are at fault because women dont want to go in those fields because they are populated by men."
TL;DR?
