How did you like it? Plain and simple... Would love to hear from someone with a Compact version but that will have to do.

I can't wait until I have a real job so I can buy a machine gun. T-minus one year.

In short: Amazing. In the 10 YEARS I owned it I never had a FTE or FTF that was the fault of the gun. I ran some absolutely horrible reloads once just to see what would happen. They caused several FTFs but it was due to primer seating depth issues where the reloader got crazy with the pocket reamer. Ergonomics were really good and the controls are very accessible, but not to the point where they snag on stuff. I open carried it for 3 years, all weather, in and out out of my truck when I was working in the woods (property manager for about 1,000 acres of private property butting up against the Las Padres National Forrest/Ventana Wilderness) and had no issues with corrosion. Minor finish wear but that is to be expected. The fullsize is not ideal to CC, it prints like a bastard, but you should be fine with the compact. Mag on the fullsize was polymer body with a steel insert in the upper 1/3 of the mag & feed lips. Very lightweight and durable, not sure about the construction on the compact mags. I fired a MK23, USP45 and the USP40 before I picked the 40 as it was the best fit for me at the time. My 40 really liked 180gr Federal Hydra-Shoks and would make ridiculously tiny groups if I did my part. Groups would open up a bit if I started shooting anything lighter than 180, but it always cycled well and accuracy was still acceptable. The polly rifling is a breeze to clean and makes for a very unique muzzle flash at night.

My only gripe was the DA trigger pull felt REALLY long... not bad or chunky, just long. Probably to keep cops from accidentally shooting people. Mine was a Variant 1 so DA to SA with decock, exposed hammer and external safety. The SA was great, better than my 1911. I really considered the new LEM trigger from HK but I couldn't find an HK Armorer out here in CA that was not a complete douche-nozzle about it. I sold it to a co-worker when I won a Springfield Armory XD40 Service 4" on a $20 raffle ticket at an NRA dinner. The XD fit my hand a lot better than the HK, but that's just personal ergonomics for ya.

Long winded, I know. Let me know if there is anything else

Nice... A lot more information than I was looking for, but I definitely appreciate the input! I will keep you all posted if I decide to pick it up or not in the next few weeks *damn money*.

My colt AR makes < 1" groups @ 100 yards w/little magnification and it's 40 years old. They must have done something right.

Want to start a huge fight at a gun range?

Start telling people how stupid sub-20", 1/9 twist barrels are for .223 & 5.56.

Bonus points if they bring up how "operators" use 11.5" barrels.

I picked it up at kittery trading post and ithink I got it 3 months ago. It was a sale gun at the time and I havnt seen a black one in the case since just the silver.. thy are known for having sales on guns when they want them gone. A friend of mine picked up a 1911 for $700 and the lowest he found online was $900.. I can't remember off the top of my head which brand and model it was but I guess it was $1300 msrp.

Ill throw up the link to their site in a bit when I get home.

That's not terrible IMO. With iron's I can hardly see a 12" square piece of paper @ 100 yards.
