Any better pics of the lower receiver?

If it's as you say it is, it doesn't look too bad. Also, make sure you're happy with a fixed carry handle and the primitive A1 sights, some guys flip a ---- when they see those but given your love for odd ----, I don't think you'll mind it too much.

Colt barrels will be marked with a "C", depending on the vintage. Also, the barrel should be stamped with a "1/7" (some of the EARLY ones had odd twist rates). Most of the "larger" parts will also have Cs on them.

Nope. I wish I had better pics for you guys to look at but it is all I have. What would I be looking for on the lower that you cannot see (I'm assuming just the stamped markings). I had no idea the handle was fixed. Hmmm... Not sure if that changes anything or not. If I get a chance to buy the rifle I'll take a look for the "C"s. Thanks...

just buy it and if you're not in love with the upper, I'll take it off your hands or trade you or something

I'll be spending ~25K for a 24x36 workshop this month (or whenever permits / building is completed). "Just buy it" is rough right now but still doable.

Is it a good enough deal to not pass up?

Ehh, I wouldn't pay more than $650 for it but then again, I have zero need for one at the moment. I would offer him that if you really want it -- the worst he can do is say no

I have zero need for most things. $650 seems low for quality manufactures but as I said, I know diddly about ARs. I've already told him I have cash but would only jump on it for a good price. Haven't heard back from him yet.

aight hoss, $800 is a good price for a Colt AR, but the Armalite lower has me kinda iffy about the whole thing. If it's an EARY Armalite lower, like 60s vintage, then it's OK, but I'd walk away from any of Armalite's later offerings.

So, to go with my $100 lower, I've been doing homework on complete uppers. These are the 2 cheapest places I've found that have a COMPLETE upper, including BCG and charging handle:

$389
http://www.karrisguns.com/ar-15-uppe...oat-hand-guard

$369
http://sotaarms.com/?page_id=219

I really like the look of the SOTA one, and the clean handguard will reduce my desire to hang a bunch of ---- off the front end. A friend of mine has a Primary Arms red-dot he's gonna let me have for cheap. I might actually pull off a complete decent AR for under $500.

The seller says:

I had difficulty finding a Colt lower receiver with the fixed buttstock, so I went with the next best brand I could find. The color isn't a perfect match, but close enough to make no difference. The twist rate on the A1 upper is a bit lower than the A4's (1 in 11, I believe, as opposed to the newer 1 in 7 or 1 in 9). The absolute minimum I could take would be 700 for the rifle and all the accessories.

He has a collection of guns that he is selling and someone is driving 100+ miles to buy everything tomorrow (deal was already made before I started talking to him - just found out about it today). If the guy doesn't buy everything I will be picking the gun up tomorrow...

Edit - he says the guy already put down a deposit

he has some guy who's pretty much already bought it and all of his other guns, yet he still goes through the trouble of sending your photos of the rifle?

I'm waiting for some MS6 parts I've got for sale to be gone and then it's time for an upper and a something "full size" in .40 or .45 for the nitestand. My wife won't let me keep the 12ga under the bed even if I weld the barrel shut. I'm actually seriously considering a Sub2k in .40 for primary HD work. It'll fit fine in the nitestand... add a cheap laser and I think it's a winner. Still thinking about it.

My "complete upper" will definitely be under $400 and zero frills.

Picked up my PF9 today but no chance to really look at it.
