Lurker lurking no longer
I seen me a lambo doored MX5 once. I thought I'd see a lot of strange stuff when I started down the MX5 road, but I dint never think I'd see lambo doors on a MX5. And there it was. It was right as I stepped out of the bottle shop. I had to check if I hadn't already been drinkin. In Toowoomba of all places.
Ahem. That is true by the way.
I've been lurking here for a number of years, and who knows why I've decided to say hello now, but I am. I'm Andrew, I'm here because I'm an MX5 owner of 6 years and like to play with them.
I live in Brisbane, Australia, which is a great place if you like humidity and Rugby League. Which I don't but its 20 years too late since I moved here to say I couldn't put up with it.
You can have the cats first. We have three.
Here's the car.
I like trackdays though not at all driving competitive, and I don't get to them as often as I'd like. I really like B roads and twisties more, and roadtrips in it, so that has ruled my choices working on the car to some degree.
With some friends who also have MX5s we do nearly all of the work on the cars ourselves, and have done most things... replacing engines, unbolting and bolting on all the things. Once you start you just can't stop. Having a hoist really makes the choice easy to not take it to the shop.
My car has a decent complete exhaust, an intake, a lightened flywheel, some decent coilovers by MCA local to QLD, and a bunch of Artworks Dewa things because I love the **** out of that stuff.
The car has the bolt on stuff enough that I have to properly get going on installing the MS3 I've had for ages, before having a stab at a rebuild of a VVT motor I have laying around.
My car has slim to bugger all chance of being boosted, sorry to disappoint.
Working on multiple cars tends to blur things together, so when I end up talking about the other cars we have, try to keep up
Here's the fleet... the red is mostly coincidental I swear.
One NA6 I/H/E and big brakes, and another NA6 with an AVO truboes modified and made much betterer by nitrodann.
I like a lot of good things because they are good, and a lot of bad things because they are also good. I am a critical ************, but happily admit that I don't know everything.
I work at a uni making video learning objects, and doing a Research Masters degree in how to make universities stop sucking at digital and online learning.
I met my girl there. She loves cats and loves my car, so she was allowed to stay. I'll get her driving at a trackday one of these days, or at least able to do driving shifts on the roadtrips. I mean she's got to pull her weight. No wait I want to drive all the twisties. More cats now.
They are a bit older than this now (1 and a bit years old). Jigen, Jiji and Kaya.
If I contribute nothing else, I can promise that I can bring it with photos of cats.
I've much enjoyed reading and learning lots of stuff on this site, and the info here has already been very useful these past years, so thanks already!

Welcome to the forum. +1 You will do well here.
My wife works for an online education business. She worked with several universities that outsourced the technical and logistical aspects with her previous company. The company she works for now does continuing education credits and technical recertification. It is a lucrative business.
Your intro is in my top 10 favorites.

Proud supporter from post #1. It took me 2 years to decide to throw some money away to this site.
I once owned a lambo door miata.... true story.
I bought a wrecked one off craigslist and I think I sold the lambo hinges for $300. I probably would have been better off recycling them for scrap metal to remove one from circulation in the world for the greater good of the miata community.

Lambo door on a miata are a litmus test, and we need to know who else is a potential lambo door prevert.
