Default Everything but time, direction and a little Braineak help!-Planning My MS install

So I finally got my injectors "injector-rehabbed" and got a screamin' deal on an LC-1 over the weekend. I'm scared to disable my car yet again but if I'm gonna do it I figure I may as well dive in soon. Hopefully I can get the bitch squirting and reliable while there's still some good weather in Ohio!

I have a Braineak-built MS and parallel harness but it wasn't built for me, it was originally built for a 1.6 so I gotta do some mods to the harness and a couple of other things I've picked up along the way (I believe I need to add a diode at S12 for FIDLE?)to get it to work on the 95.

Scott - You get a chance to look at my pics???? Pleeeeease? Pretty pleeease?

I know I need to flip the LEDs around and you specified some grounds to move in a PM a while back. Do you see anything else?

So what's the best route for me here? I currently have an M45 with BBK and AFPR, as well as the JR timing controller, JR fuel pump, and header.

I'm terrified to rip out the timing controller, AFPR, MAF, and swap injectors and wire up the MS all at once for fear I'll have no idea how to troubleshoot when it doesn't work. Is there a way to do this a step at a time?
Once the required changes are made to the MS Can I do things in this order?:

-Install the LC-1
(Can I use the stock bung on the JR header and emulate NB or should I get a new one welded near the cat?)

-Ditch the MAF and hook up the MS and make sure it runs.

-Remove AFPR and install 550s

-Tune

I know you guys are gonna tell me it won't work out this way......

Sounds like a good sequence to me.

I've looked at your pics....I'll have to look again and actually, like, write down what you need to do

Really? I was concerned about installing the MS with the AFPR in place. Obviously it would make little sense to try and tune it this way only to re-tune. I just wasn't sure how easy it would be or what would need to be calculated to get it to just fire and idle with this set-up. That's all I intend to do at that point. Once I'm reasonably sure the MS functions OK then I can change other stuff. My intent is to be able to keep the car drivable if the MS isn't quite right. I could then pull it and be right back where I started......in theory.

Thanks! It seems I get about 6 hours every other weekend to wrench and play with cars, so this seems to be taking forever. I have a 96 I'm working on as well so I'm having to learn patience and pace, things I'm not good at!

Now I have all the toys ready though, I'm anxious. I still haven't bought a Jim Stim though and kinda wish I had one. That would further delay the whole mess at this point, of course. I have faith in your build and advice and also in my own skills. I'm hoping that's enough to get it going.

This is from a thread I started a while back, when I thought installing the MS with my stock injectors and JR AFPR would be a viable proposition. The point here is that it makes me wonder if I can even expect the thing to fire and idle (to verify functionality) with this setup, before swapping the injectors.

Where are you Joe?

I would say that since you had the injectors cleaned and tested that failure of those is low probability. I would just get rid of the AFPR and install the 550s off the bat. If you start with the initial msq settings identified in several threads here it should idle and run with the 550s without too much hassle. Good enough for troubleshooting anyway. In other words, if you use a good msq, and the car does not start, the problem is probably not the 550s.

It is good that you have a WBO2. Megalogviewer will soon be your best friend

Agreed. I'm not anticipating a problem there. My thoughts go like this:

If I swap injectors and hook up the MS and it fails, I'm fooked until I figure it out. If I install the MS before the injectors and it doesn't go, I can still run on the stock ECU while I troubleshoot the MS.

Just use the MSPNP msq appropriate for your car and then re-calculate the REQ FUEL field in engine constants. It will definately start and run. Then its just down to playing with a few fields and tweaking the VE
