Unhappy no start with braineack ms (solved)

it's running now, it fired right up. i didnt get the instructions from braineack in time was probably what the problem was. but i switched the wires over. it runs rough, but its running as i type

OLD POST
i installed the unit yesterday, and to my surprise my car wouldnt start. i changed the firmware over to 029v so that i could try jerry's base 90-93 no afm map and i even installed the stock injectors to weed out that possibility. the car is getting spark and fuel because its backfiring out of the intake and exhaust. no matter what i did with cranking pulsewidths and timing itself i could not get my car to run. there were a few times it would hit on a couple of cylinders and it would run for a couple of seconds then it would die. i'm completely able to communicate with the ms and see all of its parameters.

i've tried a number of maps, the only difference was the backfiring would vary between them.

i plugged in the stock ecu and the car ran fine.

my setup
-1990 miata
-td05h big 16g
-stock injectors (for troubleshooting)
-hardwired walbro 255lph pump
-iridium spark plugs
-stock wires
-braineack pnp ms w/ afm removal, fan control, idle control and stand alone harness
-stock 1.6
ngk afx wideband (wired to ms)

oh yeah, i'm using the mspnp software bundle. hope someone can give me some useful advise, since i'm at a loss here.

My first guess is to try switching the plugs on the coilpack, perhaps they are backwards.

Another guess is watching your pw's in Megatune.
If they aren't pulsing during cranking, unplug your TPS switch.

I wired my 90 TPS for a future VTPS mod, but found the on/off switch type TPS was sending the MS into flood clear mode. Unplugging the TPS made it start.

Yea that was just my guess from your description. If the wires are backwards, it will try to start, backfire, sometimes start backwards, all kinds of stupid crap.

generally, its trying to ignite the engine to make it rotate the other way.

thats why you got the backfire coming out of the intake because the intake valves are open instead of exhaust ones

on the other hand, finally another MSer in the bay area.
that makes 3 , soon to be 4 as i just assembled my buddy an MS for his car.

Juhanis,
are you going to be running EBC mod?
im still a little clueless on getting the damn thing to work.
