Default no IAC crew - how's startup for you?

I can't seem to keep the engine running the first, maybe, 4-5 seconds immediately following startup without cracking the throttle open immediately after it fires when cold. It seems to settle into a decent idle after that, but I have to be careful to not stall the first ~45 seconds.

I've lengthened my ASE to 50 seconds and richened it some trying to combat this, it's improved but isn't where it ought to be.

It's been pointed out to me that the RPM-based accel enrichments I use aren't the preferred method here, but Jerry set me up with it during my dyno tuning session so I've been sticking with them. Time to switch to the regular enrichments?

How do you guys get your idle down? When I unplug mine I cant get the idle any lower than 1500 with the idle screw.

I think it depends on quite a few factors independant to each car. With my idle screw closed all the way i'm at 1100-1200 or so.

To Koto, i'm having the same problem and so far i've not been able to solve it at all with ASE. Usually it'll stay running but if its sub 60* it takes 2 tries to get the car to stay running. Also, it starts with idle at the normal 800-850 then as it warms up it slowly rises.

I think the best solution is to install an IAC lol.

Make sure your tb is fully clean so that it is closing all the way. Doesnt take much vac leak to raise your idle.

Mine stopped working also, and was stuck in "idle at 2k RPM" mode. I'll probably put another on, especially if I find a good (lowball) price on a VTPS TB assembly with a good one attached. I'd just need to put a bung on my IC piping, in case the new IAC starts to go south and causes another boost leak.

I'm actually thinkin it might be related to my TIP120. I need to do some work in my megasquirt (joe's spark out mod and launch control) and thinking about swapping out for a new transistor.

But then again its prolly just a bad IAC like you. My car never idled right when it was working, idle's better without it =P
