Default Question About Fans/output 2

Ive built my MS as per braineaks guide so fan output is on output 2.

Now my fans DO come on, but they seem to come on when they feel like it?
Should the output 2/fans box at the very bottom of the MT screen go green and STAY green when they are on? Cos mine never does. It flashes between on and off etc?

For instance, yesterday I set them to come on at 200 deg F so if im correct thats actually 160 deg F, meaning they should be on all the time? This was just to test this, and low and behold the fans didnt come on, even though clt was at 200 deg F?

Any ideas?

Thanks

double check your output settings. How did you wire it up? Braineaks guide gives you 2 ways, using the middle LED, or the fan mod kit via DIY.

Im using the fan mod kit and it jumps to JS0, this method works great and doesnt require you to subtract 40degrees or whatever. (My output light in tunerstudio comes on and stays on for the duration of the fans)

Also, I may be wrong on this, but the middle LED is wired as output 4. (Which can be selected to use the fan control settings.) Not sure what you're doing with output 2.

Aside from that, since you have a 1990 (assuming normal 1.6) the fan is also controlled by the front thermoswitch at like 197 deg or something.

Intresting. So the thermo switch turns the fans on regardless at 197 deg? So is there not much point in the fan mod for 1990 car anyways then?

Mines wired like yours, using the fans mod kit. And your saying I dont need to bother with the +40 then? So If I set it to 190 deg, it should come on at 190deg and not 150?

I was under the impression that the middle LED was WUE as per the manual?

How come no-one uses the dedicated coolant fan output?

I do and it works perfectly, no maths required either

I dont normally put fan on output two, im pretty sure my writeup says to put it on js0, which is fan control.

you would be seeing the fan/water inj light up, not fan/output 4.

if you used the middle led circuit, then you should change it to output 4 and change output 4 to fan control

If I go into more settings/ outputs, output 1 is shaded out and output 2 (x5/js3) is set to clt, 215deg F etc etc

If I go into More Settings/ shiftlight/fan/output 3+4, then output 3/4 is shaded out, shift light is set to off and fan control is shaded out aswell???

My mods are done exactly like your writeup, to JSO

Basic Settings -> Outputs -> Change X2(JS0) from Water Inj to Fan Control

then

Other Settings -> Shiftlight/fan/output -> fan settings should be unshaded and good to go.

That should get you going, might as well turn off output 2 while you're at it.
