Default Brain built MSII no start.

Stand along MSII on my 99. I have spark and can smell fuel. Cam and crank triggers seem to be correct and I have a tach signal. The motor spins over normally and sounds like it wants to start, I can even hear it firing but it just wont catch. I did nothing but install the MS.

Here are some screen shots of the composite logger. I also attached the log file and my MSQ.

I actually tried that but my battery was nearly dead. I'm going to try it again.

Does the "SYNC" indication on the lower right corner stay green while cranking or does it go green/red/green/red as you crank? I assume the later.

I'll have to look again, but I'm pretty sure it flashes back and forth from red to green while cranking.

Two things, either the crank conditioning circuit is not OK (the cam looks good) or something is wrong with the motor (a flat battery that spins the engine slowly could cause this as well).

Well my battery is/was really low at the time. I just picked up a charger so I can continue working.

THe crank and the cam logger shows the proper teeth pattern. It should fire up no problem, so the last thing I would suspect is a loose connection on the coils/injectors, or your coil packs are swapped. Running COPs?

I did nothing with any of that before installing the ms, the car ran perfect. Stock coils.

Do you know what circuits were used for the CKP and CAM sensors?

I believe that Brain built the circuits in those 3 pictures. I remember talking to him while he was doing it.

Okay, I've got the battery hooked up to a charger so I have full voltage now. I tried starting the car with the coils in both positions and no luck. The SYNC tab at the lower left stays green while cranking. I just checked for spark again and its good, I can definitely smell fuel and I am getting a tach signal. Here is another screen shot of the composite logger. I know there aren't suppose to be any spikes in the red line. So, what do those spikes mean?

I just noticed that I am getting intermittent tach signal and when that happens the sync tab stays red and sometines both come and go while cranking,

It seems that its not keeping sync. Have to tried move the CKP or replace the crank sensor?

This:

I asked for his composite logs and they look like it's the correct pattern. When I had it on my stim it synced perfectly.

It will always sync perfectly on the stim. Hell, it will sync perfectly on the stim even without Abe's input circuits. Try it - I did and it worked just fine. No luck on the car without them though.

I had the same problem on a customer's car - MS2 V3 board, circuit worked fine on the stim, it wouldn't sync properly on the car. Checked and found a few errors. Fixed them and it would sync, but wouldn't go past 5100rpm, even free-revving. Promptly upgraded the unit to a DIYPNP free of charge and I promised myself never to do a V3 on a NB again.
