Pushing an MP62 to the limits...
Hypothetical question:
Assuming a stock '99 head and valvetrain and a more-or-less ideal exhaust system, what is the highest boost / HP that an MP62 could reasonably be expected to support, within the constraints of blower speed & efficiency?

I've got 3gph of WI going through the throttle body into the blower and another 3gph at the outlet. No problems so far and the blower is significantly cooler relative to the valve cover. Pre-WI the blower was hotter than the valve cover.

Big Gulp made 340hp on his:
Big Gulp dyno
The latest specs
- 2000 block, blueprinted, bored 1mm OS, Wiseco pistons, Pauter rods, lightened crank and flywheel, extensive block and oiling system work, 01 MBSP
- 2000 head, ported, Manley OS valves, Eibach springs, CNC chamber work.
- Haltech E6X ecu, MSD Dis 2 HO, MSD coils and wires, RC 550 p&h injectors.
- Modified '01 OEM header, 2 1/2" exhaust, flowmaster resonator, turbo muffler, crankcase ventilation system.
- A/W IC w/ 3 heat exchangers, Jabsco pump, 3 gallon reservoir.
- Magnuson MP62 (modified) supercharger and BGPP 6 rib pulley kit.
- Pre-sc water injection with pulsed injector, Shurflow pump and custom accumulator.
- Custom coolant re-route, 2 piece swivel oil filter adaptor, B & M oil cooler, dual remote filters.
- Centerforce clutch plate w/ ACT disk.
- Eibach springs, KYB shocks, RB sways, Toyo tires (205/50/15's front and 225/50/15's rear).
- Modified shifter, Autometer gauges.
- 342 rwhp and 310 ft/lbs of torque at 21 PSI and rising.

Quite a few people doing that very thing on nutz
One with an MP62 and others with a 45. Supposedly it helps seal the rotors better. I intend to do it myself at some point...

Experimented with WI pre SC before installing the IC.
Couldn't tell any difference and the EMU datalogs showed no boost gain at all down to 0.0 of a psi.

Any wear/reliability problems so far? How do they determine the WI limitations? Do they use straight water or combo? What kind of TRACK IATs are they seeing?

Its been done before, A guy by the name Jean in Canada tracked his BRP kit and posted that no blower will survive sustained use unless its cooled. He cooled his with WI pre-blower. I believe him because I toasted mine after a year of track racing. I pulled my kit after realizing that I would have to replace it yearly due to the heat of track racing. Beware that Magnusson voids blower warranty if anything is injected into it.

Anyone know his blower speed or pulley ratios? Thanks Brain for the info.
What a shame the project is no longer updated.

this is what he says about it:
When we started to tweak Big Gulp, we started with 2 pulleys. We ran the larger pulley non-intercooled and then the second smaller one once the IC system was in place. Once the car was running with no problems, we cut the larger pulley down to a size slightly smaller than the 2nd pulley. This continued until 21 PSI was reached without any problems. The advantage of this method is that with only 2 actual pulleys, if we went too far, we could always drop back a step until the problem was found and corrected.
