Gen2 11.75" Big Brake Kit @ Trackspeed - Only $599!
#81
Installation complete
The 11.75" rotor is certainly beefier
And about 2.6 lbs heavier in aggregate
Out with the old (the car had been sitting for a while after a wash - hence the patina of rust)
A fair amount of clearance with these 15x8 6ULs
Installation was a breeze. There are no instructions on which way to mount the caliper bracket, but it's fairly obvious through inspection.
Fresh XP12 pads were installed and all mounting bolts were torqued to 40 lb-ft (after liberal application of threadlocker).
#82
There's not a lot of clearance between the caliper and 15x8 rim. No interference that I could discern though.
Money shot: That fills the wheel nicely.
Clearance to my 15x9 6UL track wheels is about the same to the barrel of the rim, but closer to the spokes.
My favourite wheel.
My next track day is tomorrow and the first session will be to bed everything in nicely. Thanks again Andrew - well worth the wait.
#83
Update: Brakes performed flawlessly at my track day today. They bedded-in reasonably well by my second session:
Unfortunately, my Quaife tranny blew up again during my third session.

I have flyin miata 11" setup up front on my car. It is the dynapro calipers. Will these calipers fit your upgrade kit?
#86
Put mine on this weekend, they look great, can't wait to see how they perform at Road America this fall. (Nittos are my street wheels/tires)

How are you guys clearing your wheel weights? Are you just not running any?

[Off topic]. Cool thing (I think) is, at the beginning of the year 2012, when I was waiting for a roll bar from Bethania, I started to see US Miata forums and some of your posts. After that, I searched to push this project further ;-)

Good or bad, comments are welcome to do a better work ... to build a better car.

No pads into this kit.

No pads with the kit. Everyone has different needs or preferences for pads (brand/compound), so rather than charge everyone a set of pads that probably won't work for most people, we leave pads out of the kit (and the price).
Blackpegaz, the clearance on the DP6s is definitely a bit tighter than the DP4s or DL4s. The tie rod interference is interesting - I checked clearance on new OEM 93LE tie rods and had no issues. Are yours OEM or aftermarket?

Yes ... after brake ducts modification, I started to think it probably wasn't a good idea because the geometry of the car has not been set (no motor). Currently, toe is negative, so I think I could gain 3-4 millimeters (0.12 - 0.16 inches) (on each side) by screwing tie rod ends.

Tie rod ends come from 1993 LE / 1994-1995 R package (bought on MiataRoadster) like yours. Now, I have to wait next weekend to try to gain clearance.

FYI- from the pile of parts I just removed. These weigh the same as factory 1.6 parts with half used pads. Not that people buying this kit are that concerned with weight. But some weight weenies exist (autocrossers). I'll be tossing some scalloped rotors at this later down the line.

I reduced amount of (<s>negative toe</s>) toe-in by screwing tie rod ends. No real clearance gain.

I will wait for the motor (not before one year).

If anyone could give me an idea of the expected clearance between tie rod end and brake disk, that would be interesting.

Seems like this kit clears 15x9 but will this clear advanti storm s1 15x8?
