Default 1.6l NA (AT to MT) w/14b turbo build - Megasquirted, lots of pics

Figured I'd start a thread on what I hope to have done by spring.

For sake of not reposting - here's a snapshot of the car since I've owned it ( more detailed at https://www.miataturbo.net/meet-greet-40/rochester-ny-now-pics-63013/ )

First day home

Hardtop/wheels

Auto to manual swap

Flares/lip

Now, on to the turbo stuff

Goals:
-Close, or under, $1k budget
-run MS only as standalone before turbo install
-6psi/150ish HP upon initial setup
-learn my way through the system/dont blow anything up
-up to 10-13+psi, 200ish + HP
-still try not to blow anything up

Here's what came in last week (already have the 14b turbo not pictured)

Manifold. Hell yes it's eBay! Im a baller on a budget

brand new Boost Gauge

MTX-L Wideband

(used) Rx7 red top injectors (460cc). These will be torn apart, claned, new filter, and flowtested before use. Got a great deal on them!

aaaand Megasquirt, my weekend project. Going complete standalone. I ordered a bunch of the add ons for it at well; Idle control valve, boost solonoid, two other things I cant remember, but got them! ha

your stock rear end is going to explode.

For rx7 460s? I don't think so.

They are low impedance ones, from what I was told, and was under the impression I will need the resistors.

Rccote, picked them up from a guy names Rynn who was in to MX3's, I believe he was from Farmington. NY.

The manifolds; before they go on, I will weld bracing to them. Having them crack is little concern (even expected with these) as Ive been welding for over 10 years =) Any kind of down time for me would be nothing more than stopping by the shop for a quick repair. Im sure by that point I'll scoop up a cast.

And the stock rear ends, if it blows, it blows! The shop I have my parts car from the manual swap, and where Ive been builing my other v8 miata, has another 10 or so miatas there. No shortage of parts. Likewise, if the stock one goes, I'll throw in the LSD from one of the M's sitting there, and if that one goes, I'll look for something else.

Or you could run them as low impedance, which your MS is fully capable of.

just make sure you do all the extra ground mods on the board (search MSextra for more info). the MegaSquirt grounds are shitty and can't handle low impedance injectors very well.

I dont know if thats a good thing or bad thing! Theres no questions the tires are oversized (doesnt look tooooo bad with the flares, but still, they're big)

205/55's I think. They were brand new sitting in the shop, bought them for my old porsche 944 but sold the car before I used them. I was so excited when the wheels came in the mail I just thew on whatever I couldnt find, those were it!

Richy, thats awesome, I will look in to that! Injectors are being dropped off for cleaning, filter, and flow testing tomorrow.

Didnt have a lot of time over the weekend to put together the MS, I think I stopped at step #22 putting the power assembly together. and I didnt get any of IC sockets so I can swap them out without desoldering, LAME. Looks like I will overpay for them at Radioshack

Just to clarify for future readers:

Not all square tops are low impedance.

I've gotten deals on high-z injectors because they were squares, and a set of the connectors can be hard for less than $10 on ebay. 8 wires...less than most stereo installs.

I guess its subjective, my "deal" on these were $30 for the set, and I'm paying $40 to have new o-rings,filter, and flow tested with before and after readouts printed out. So $70 total

P/S done! My gut sank for a good 5 min till I realized I was reading the IC pins wrong and wasnt getting voltage to a set of connections, but all is well

Test results came back. I'm pregnant.

These were supposed to be 460cc injectors, and..... better than expected! Despite any notable difference after cleaning, it looks like there were in good shape to begin with (though they look pretty rough), better safe than sorry!

While waiting for the DB9 to USB cable to show up in the mail, i started tearing in to a spare ECU to yank out the connector and tonight I'll make a cable for the MS so I dont have to cut the wiring harness.

Um, you're not using those injectors, are you? They're scrap.

Here are my results. Look how much cleaner they are

Is it essential to have all the injectors running within a very close proximity of each other?

Pardon my confusion, as this is still a learning endeavor on my end. Would having these run in excess of 460 be problematic?
