Shows what I remember when I'm not looking at it, thanks again.

oregonmon 10-18-2014 01:24 PM

Thanks Rev for the info. Meeting with Curly today for the fix.

So Ryan when are

a) you coming to my house
b) we eating lunch

and

c) drifting my neighborhood roundabout until your 1.6 diff explodes?

a) soon
b) fairly soon
c) how's next Tuesday?

Thank ya! MCS are pretty much the best improvement I've made to the car before the 1.8 swap. I feel all warm and fuzzy reading through GRM and seeing all these amazing builds that are going to MCS.

So the car has been running for the last couple days. It was a 1 1/2 days of getting the last bits together as well as getting the sequential injection wired correctly. Reverant who builds the Megasquirts is extremely responsive but we found when we were scratching our heads over a few things and we were looking for answers it was typically 2-3am and he was obviously unavailable, but he always responded the very next day.

This must be a good sign...

Over to Curly's Shade Tree Garage to get the tach wired and working. Took a quick drive in Arjay's recently acquired and boosted 10AE. What a pleasure to drive and quick too.
Attachment 238748

Josh's turbo smurf, that I took on a beer run. Proper fun! I really should stop driving turbo cars.
Attachment 238749

Josh figured out the tach wiring, thankfully.

I'll be changing out the cheap Rotella for the good Rotella and filter soon and scheduling some dyno time. I'll report back with driving impressions shortly. The car is quite fun. Lively, sounds great and enough to get me in trouble on the street.

Huge thanks to Josh Castaldi aka Curly. This wouldn't be possible without his expertise and I'm especially thankful for his attention to detail and professionalism. Super fun project!!

This week I'm extremely excited to be running a Chumpcar for the second race, this coming weekend at PIR.

Sorry for XL pics.

turbofan 10-20-2014 01:03 AM

Looks like fun. So Arjay acquired that 10AE from speed concepts or whatever it was? Is it as clean as it looked in the pics? Sure looked like a nice car. Running a link setup right?

Glad to hear your car is running well. Dyno when?

curly 10-20-2014 01:39 AM

Yup, 8 injectors and 2 fuel rails with the Link. Runs great. I told him to do some base line dyno pulls at KO or ER, and if the AFRs (no wideband gauge) look good, don't touch.

It's a lot of work to eliminate the Link, as he'd need a new intake manifold, plus a lot of de-wiring to eliminate all the Link, and then all the tuning of the MS.

oregonmon 10-20-2014 01:42 AM

1st turbo car and it drives really nice. It'll be his daily, I say he should drive for for a while.

turbofan 10-20-2014 01:54 AM

Totally makes sense especially if it's a DD. I'm curious as can be what he paid for it. I'm bidding on another 10AE :giggle:

Is it quicker than your car Josh?

Mobius 10-20-2014 02:22 AM

Tuesday should work good.

MX5RACER 10-20-2014 10:43 AM

I have a really good VVT spark map if you want it. Send me a PM and I will send you my current MSQ.

curly 10-20-2014 12:05 PM

PM incoming.

I won't touch to spark map until we hit the dyno, but I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

MX5RACER 10-20-2014 12:10 PM

I sent you a PM in return. I run this map in my track car and have been running this map for several thousands of miles and more than 100 laps at Homestead Motorspeedway and Sebring.

As I said in my PM, my MSQ, is for a DIYPNP with a VVTuner controlling the VVT. The VVT map is the as delivered map (Never found any power using different settings). You should be able to view the spark map and go from there. When I get home, I will post my current MSQ.

If you want, you can go here and download it.

You might have an issue down the line with the PCV valve line collapsing under vacuum. I got a PCV valve that has a 90 degree built into it and then you use a very short run of hose to make the connection.

You might be able trim the hose a little bit to get the bend a little less severe.

Looking very good so far.

Also, what intake is that? What is the length of the pipe from the TB to the filter, please?

oregonmon 10-20-2014 12:40 PM

Intake here.

Wat? That's a stock hose bro.

Mobius 10-20-2014 04:30 PM

Yes looks like mine. 136k miles on it so far, no collapsing that I know of.

I run the 323 GTX pcv valve, part number is elsewhere on this forum but I'll go ahead and post it like a boss : E301-13-890A.

I thought all his MS3 were already setup for sequential fuel and that all 90-93 owners had to do was follow these instructions?

curly 10-21-2014 04:23 PM

It was originally setup for the 1.6 in batch mode while we figured out the ms3.

Then we had to change internal jumpers to disable said jumpers for sequential on the vvt.

Welcome to the fun world of electronics. I had a professor who used to say that all components worked because of the magic smoke that was inside them and if you let the magic smoke out (burned up a transistor or whatnot) then they wouldn't work anymore. He's an interesting guy.
