I currently have an 01 and an 06. NC's are are 1000% better DD. I am moving more towards an NA track build on the 01 and getting rid of the 06 for another NC with the PRHT. Perfect DD.
I've come very close to buying a PRHT on several occasions, but couldn't justify another 2 seater. They do seem to be nice "cars" even if they are not nice "Miatas" for what we consider "Miatas"
My wife's DD is a '13 Club PRHT. We love it. Top down, it's a Miata "modernized" a bit, top up, it's a coupe. We shopped BRZs and Genesis Coupes, but being able to put the top down outweighed the nicer interiors and more power. The biggest problem with the NCs is the stock suspension is very soft.

Exactly! I have had 5 Miatas now and ever since finding out how much NC's are better DD's, I have been looking for a well-priced PRHT. Top down drives are amazingly fun, but I always worry on long trips about my top getting slashed. The PRHT would remove all those worries, yet still allow top down fun whenever I felt like it. My 01 will be the track rat, because the consumables are so much cheaper.
Alright, alright... enough talk about NC PRHT BS.
Made some more progress- head is out, and cylinder walls look good to me (and my UN-trained eyes).

I'm gonna take some time and clean up the wiring, coolant hoses and mount the oil-cooler while I've got the extra space.
Anyone know what these plugs are for? They weren't hooked up before, and I want to cut them off. Same goes for all the EGR wiring on the other side of the engine bay. I'm running Megasquirt, so I probably don't need any of this crap- right?

Diagnostic port is a handy thing to have, even with MS.
Honestly, I wouldn't mess with the OEM wiring harness unless you've got the wiring diagram and a lot of patience. Really easy to disable your car. And even if the car still runs, years from now you might regret 5 ill-conceived seconds with a wire cutter. Easy enough to just tie wrap those things out of the way.
