NICE.
when is the dyno day? :) |

Here's how I mounted the intercooler. I made four brackets out of angle iron and bolted it to the chassis. The front mounts use the mounting hole of the intercooler. I made brackets and had them welded to the lower part of the intercooler. I made supports out of angle aluminum and connected them to the lower brackets.
I made custom charge pipes and had them welded. There is about a half inch of space from the DP and the engine bay shelf. Next is to make the DP heat shield and a cold air box and a good tune. |
Sweet. I hope to make track days this year down there, got a new truck to tow the miata so I don't have to drive it 8 hours lol
When will your first one be? |
Somehow I feel my car is responsible for all of this.
BTW, you should order some temp strips to see what/where you need heat shielding. I use "G", 8-point strips from McMaster. I get Alcon strips from HRP world for the brakes. |
Your car definitely was an influence. Thanks for the tip, will do.
I took it out for a spin and it really pulls. The boost is virtually instantaneous. First gear is gone in a flash. I have to install the oil catch can breather, heat shield for turbine/DP and install the intake temp sensor bung. |
need spooool data! 4th gear pull go go go go.
|
looks awesome, man! congrats on taking it for a spin. I'm getting so antsy looking at these build threads...

Thx :)
I made a heat shield for the turbine and exhaust. Next step is to fab the intake box |
Does your stock undertray fit with that intercooler?
|
I will make an undertray to replace the original. I had to remove the bumper intake ducting and bumper liners to fit the intercooler and the charge pipes. The intercooler is positioned to clear the AC drier and bumper.

Tonight I installed the FIC 650cc injectors. I tweaked my Req_fuel and changed the Cranking PW settings. I was able to start the car and set the A/F ratio for idle.

My Prosport MBC arrived. :) Now I need to wait for the boost gauge to tweak it. Tomorrow, I'll get the IAT sensor bung welded and re-install the coldside charge pipe.

The intake charge pipe is completed with the IAT sensor bung and wastegate hose barb.
I installed the crankcase oil catch can/breather and installed a barb to replace the PCV fitting. I started to make the cold air intake box. Today I made the base and tomorrow I'll make the lid. |
Kill the crank-case vent on the passenger side, it will pour oil on right corners. I run only the driver's side with a -10 hose and it vents just fine, with no oil in the tank.
|
Ah, I was copying your setup. It must have been an old pic.
Thanks for the heads up. |

Today I finished the fabrication and install work in the engine bay. The only thing left to do in the engine bay is the breather hose and the heater line shutoff valve.
Tomorrow I'll install the boost gauge, and the new A/F gauge. On to the pics |
sorry if you already posted, but what kinda rad is that?
|
You aren't the first one to ask. It's a PWR radiator.
|
I'm going to *attempt* to copy a lot of your stuff. Great thread. : - )
