I took it out for a test and tune at the local track (Arroyo Seco Raceway).
It was a bit rich at the top and I leaned it out. AFRs were consistant all day. The whole setup worked flawlessly. It was limited to around 10PSI with the Forge wastegate actuator directly hooked up without a boost controller. On occasion, I would hit fuel cut at around 6600 RPM. I may just raise the limit a bit in the ECU to avoid the cut. The boost was virtually instantaneous and power delivery was linear and easy to control. The turbo was always spooled coming out of the turns. Overall, it was great! I definitely feel that I have achieved what I wanted when building this system. Thanks to Abe at ARTech for the awesome parts fabrication, Rick for his help and support and for the forums with all the knowledge I learned from it, Brain and Reverant for the ECU build and support, Hustler for letting me try his car and influencing me to start this project and everyone else that had great advice. Here is a video of one of the sessions. |
party time. now you can build mine. ;)

Lets do it! I still have spares you can use. |
Congrats Ari! I am betting your buddies will have a much harder time catching you now ;)

Thanks Joe! A couple of them already told me they its harder to pull away from me on the straights.

Turbo sounds awesome!

Thanks Bryce. BTW, I have the Forge wastegate actuator with the softest spring (the green 5+ PSI spring) directly connected without the MBC and I still hit 10PSI around 6600 RPM. After the test and tune day at the track, I set the ECU to cut fuel at 175kpa (around 11PSI). I'm hoping that it will allow me to have a little more headroom to hit rev cut before overboost fuel cut.
I also plan to try a softer spring in the MBC to delay opening of the wastegate until around 6 - 7PSI. Due to the quick spool, it's probably unnecessary, but I'm curious to see what the change will be. I'd expect to overboost even more, but its easy to test it. |
Is that beltronics radar detector? :D
I'm looking forward to dyno results |
It is. I forgot to remove it.
I tested my MBC and found that the bleed hole is too big to allow the wastegate actuator to open. I will reduce the size of the hole and test again. |

LOL!!! Time for a rebuild! It just gave away with a clunk and it was all over.
Uneventful and not even at full bore. I only ran two laps before it popped and my second lap was the fastest time in my class. Carnage pics to follow. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1332733104 |

Yo Ari, I feel you bro

Trailerception!

Lul wat?
Stock internals? Don't wanna look back. |
so 10psi on EFR6258 vents your block?
lol... |
Also I want to see them bent rods
|
Gonna make a rod keychain like Dem LOL!
|
Hopefully the turbo isn't fuxored. I don't know why you guys don't start with forged rods and pistons. Add SS valves for us track guys. Do it once, do it right, keep it white.
