The adventures of my drift miata
#41
I don't think I'd ever build a drift car because it's not my thing... but it's good to see you're having your fun. For what it's worth, I find it entertaining. It's just not the style here... which makes it even more entertaining.
Nonetheless, you have a turbo miata. This site is called miataturbo. There is a correlation in there somewhere.

Amen to that. I enjoy seeing someone stray from conformity, glad you posted and hope you continue to keep us updated. Work with what you've got, do what you enjoy, if you break it, rebuild it and make it better. When the chassis is done, there's a billion more out there waiting for you to destroy.
Also, I hope you take pride in those negative props. I did what I could to help you out, but it's a losing battle around here, lol.

My goal with this car has literally been to do everything as DIY as possible. The only things I've paid anybody else to do on this car is make the exhaust and set the backlash on the diff after I had it all apart. And since it seems nobody on this site wants to respond to my PMs about making me a MS DIYPNP, I might just end up hardwiring in a MS2 since I don't have A/C anyway. I'm hoping to have something ordered to tune this thing by the end of the week, I'm still on the fence between a MS2 and a DIYPNP if anybody wants to try to sway me one way or the other.
I'm going to try to depower the rack and swap everything I need to over from the 1.6 tonight, tomorrow will probably start with a junkyard run to grab some 1zzfe coils (a pick and pull near me has 5 00-05 corollas in the yard, so I might grab 2 or 3 sets if anybody else is looking for some...) followed by lots of cleaning and then getting the engine mounted in the bay. Wednesday's goal is to route my upper radiator hose and get everything wired and bolted together. I might slap my stock 1.8 injectors in and try to fire it up too (I'm assuming the car should start without TPS and IAC, as those are really the only 2 sensors being changed over). Thursday I'll probably run out to ATP turbo and get a garrett wastegate actuator for my turbo, then fix and troubleshoot whatever goes wrong tuesday and wednesday

Good grief - I crashed my Miata into a wall and it was (A) way nicer than this guy's started out and (B) not a salvage car when it started out.
I understand burning down the dipshit FNGs but there's got to be some sort of reasonable balance.
Oh wait. Haha! Sorry guys. I forgot where I was posting for a minute there. Please continue.

No, I get that. But the kid's grammar is reasonable (at least he capitalizes his sentences *zing*) and there is ample seat time and DIY building, plus boost.
Granted, he crashed a car that a previous owner had already crashed and he blew up a 1.6L with band-AIDs but some of the guys in this thread are acting like he trashed some pristine R-package or something.

I got this in the mail today I also got my rx7 injectors back from witchhunter the other day, all the injectors are looking good flowing between 455-458cc. I'm still waiting on a 45 degree intercooler coupler and a joiner so I can finish my upper radiator hose. I think I'm going to swing by ATP turbo on tuesday and pick up some new turbo to manifold studs as mine were slightly bent. After that's all done I just have to fill it with fluids and fire it up!

First start of my 1.8 swapped turbo miata - YouTube
Well, it runs! It's very noisy though, I'm not sure if it's HLA noise or rod knock I've only run the motor ~5 minutes so far since I don't have a fan switch. Also for this video I forgot to unplug the TPS, it runs and revs a lot smoother with it unplugged. Next step is to get the megasquirt and 460cc injectors in there, but I'm still really lost as to what mods need to be performed to the megasquirt before install.
