Not sure about that one, is that the Brookline event, Larz Museum?

I'm attending a drift event in Canaan NH June 18th.

MaineMiata91 05-31-2016 09:59 AM

Trailer got some more tlc. Holes have been patched, wiring fixed, added an extra brace up front, and coated with bed liner top to bottom.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1465777963

Also did some testing today. Car loaded up, set the tongue weight, strapped the car down, setup the brake controller (Tekonsha P3), and took it out for a drive. Truck pulls great, brake controller was perfect, and the car stayed planted on the trailer. All in all, I should be ready for the 2hr haul to Canaan, NH for Lock City - SpecialStage New England this weekend.

loving your setup, you going to do anything like modded steering knuckles or other drift car stuff?

Thanks. No to the modded knuckles, I have tie rod spacers and it's decent. Personally I think cars with modded knuckles, and setups like wisefab, look bad. I ordered some SPL rear upper control arms to take a bit of camber out, but other than that I don't really want to do much more to the car. At this point I'd like to hit more events and try to get as much seat time as possible.

how much do the spacers help out? i saw those online before when i was looking into mild to medium angle mods and couldnt find anything definite. any adverse or undesirable side affects when it comes to regular driving or a spirited back road touge run?

I never drove the car drifting at stock angle, but with the spacers it's decent enough. I have moog inners and M edition outers if that makes any difference. Not really noticeable with normal or spirited driving, it could help a bit with U turns I guess.

Bought bags for the 4Runner since 4Runners are a little squishy. Level the truck, and improve stability when towing.

Also picked up SPL adjustable rear upper control arms for the miata. Been needing more traction, so it's time to take a little camber out. I believe I'm at -4.5 degrees atm, and I'd like to be around -2.5-3 degrees.

Raised the can an inch, borrowed my buddies Kosei K1's wrapped with Hoosier SM6 tires, and spent the day at Palmer Motorsports Park in Massachusetts doing some grip laps. Had a blast and pushed the car quite a bit. Got the car up to about 120 mph on the long front straight, braking hard at the end to an up hill left. Really put some heat into the brakes lol.

Attachment 233655

I have a bunch of footage, one session I spent most of the time follow my buddy who races ITA with his miata, so I'll try cutting the footage up into a clip. A lot of wind noise with the gopro footage so it may not be the greatest but we'll see.

robertw 08-19-2016 10:21 PM

I attended another drift event. Lock City Drift: NightStage. It's a parking lot event at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, but the owners of the facility let a few people out on the big track for testing. The hope is to run the road course for events next year. Very fun section of the track, a little scary at first throwing the car around at speed with walls and little run off, but everything went well.

dcamp2 08-29-2016 02:03 PM

awesome to see someone using their car (a lot). drifting looks fun.

I try to drive the car as much as I can, a show car it is not lol. Drifting is definitely a good time, and I've learned a lot of car control from it, which translates quite well to "grip" driving on the track.

An idea that seems to not translate well here. There are a great deal of situations that I have been saved from with car control skills learned at the drift events I've participated in. I'd assert that what people here hate the most is the archetypal 'driftard' who destroys a perfectly good car in the name of procuring dude love.

Another track day in the books. @4:00 bmw stuffed in the wall. @5:57 S2000 can't handle the Miata pressure, got him driving his mirrors lol.

Oil temps were great, but now it's time for a better radiator. Top consideration is the TrackSpeed rad.

Serious question. How come pro drifters always have smoke just billowing out. But when I go to the local wall tap fest there is just a little blue haze coming from behind the cars.

Pro drift cars 1000hp, locals not 1000hp. Pro drifting is power sliding.

Just read this entire thread. It's awesome. Watching your in car video's is mesmerizing.

Watched the video you just posted as well. I cracked up so hard at the spacers in the chicken coop. Same for the tire belly flop lol.

Keep posting fellow masshole!

Side note: did the guy that sold you the motor with the busted head ever hit you back? I think I've seen him post on this site too.
