Well we here at MT.net like to immediately suspect valve stem seals. What do you have?
Also: I've looked at that catch can a million times and still don't "get" it. I see a sealed catch can, with both lines going to the valve cover? Is that correct? If so, that could definitely the source of your smoke. That's not just bad design, that's just plain 'ol fucking wrong. |
I don't see how there is going to be any flow through the catch can as it's plumbed now. Fredb |
Unless you have a hidden line we cant see in the pics going from the can to a vacuum source, thats probably your issue, as it looks like you have a sealed crank case.

After reviewing the instructional videos on the Mishimoto site, there doesn't seem to be a vacuum line. The video I watched was the can being installed on a 2015 turbo Honda Civic. The can they installed was basically the same construction as mine and both of the hoses went into the valve cover. One of which was in the PCV port on the VC exactly how mine is done. It not having a vacuum line also does not make sense to me. I really really hope this was just a silly mistake and not anything top end or ring related. Thanks guys, MTF. |

If you want to use a PCV system, it needs to be present, for one. And there also needs to be a vent side, which means you would be unable to run the catch can to both ports on the VC. You don't currently have a PCV, nor an easy way to attach one. The "easy" button would be to swap that can for a vented one. And then prepare yourself for an internet argument concerning running a vent-only setup vs. a PCV setup.' You didn't see a video from Mishimoto for this can with both lines going direct to VC. Probably one went to VC, the other went to IM. |
After further review, you're right.
I am currently not in the country but after talking to my builder, the car is no longer running that catch can set up. Most of the smoke is pre boost also. Man, I can't wait to look back on this and see how ignorant I "use to be".....thanks for the help fellas. |
