Default Grossly Overdocumented Ineptitude

Alrighty so I'm gonna use this as a dump for pretty much whatever I do on my miata that I think warrants documenting when I feel like it and only do so utilizing my potato of a phone also until I feel like digging my decent camera out of my moving boxes.

Hit a raccoon like 3 years ago...

GOALS etcGoals

1. ms3pnppro or just ms3pro considering kswap if I'm suddenly rich.

2. Turbo setup:

Intercooler

Intercooler piping

turbo manifold

downpipe

research if I need any random sensor bungs or anything for this

wideband?

oil routing for turbo cooling

heat shields?

Fuel system stuff? Do I need bigger injectors and a new fuel pump/whateverthefuckelsethisentails

I don't know what else do I need to turbo this thing.

3. Engine refresh/build?:

Determine if you need to just refresh the motor or if a full rebuild is necessary.

Compression test.

are my coils good? do I need better coils?

I don't know man I've never actually built/rebuilt a motor before.

injectors, fuel pump, etc

kswap????

4. Wiring cleanup:

I think the only real thing of note here is trying to find schematics to see if there's anything I'm missing from a physical inspection.

Buy batteries https://hobbyking.com/en_us/zippy-co...html?wrh_pdp=2 x2 when they get in stock.

5. Cooling stuff/reroute/heater core delete:

water cooling routing?

new radiator

Radiator shroud + flaps

htps://www.miataturbo.net/race-prep...-thread-79930/ great thread.

Various shrouds and whatnot

would rather not hood vent but yeah might have to if I ever want to do pdx or any other racing longer than solo/autox.

undertray replacement from dingus last owner butchering the thing.

6. Suspension/brakes:

I know this is listed last but this will happen sooner rather than later the main goal for right now is to actually do the turbo nonsense tho.

I don't know corner balancing need to grab some scales. cause this is actually fairly easy once I have them.

new coilovers cause I'm pretty sure mine are oem and like 10+ years old.

Bracing?

cage? am I ever going to be in any events that require a full cage or am I good enough with my hard dog.

Is stock brake booster good enough? Do I need a brake booster?

Already have steal braided brake lines floating around somewhere.

Do I need to swap over to new sway bar in the rear as well. Do research on street performance/larger course performance as opposed to solo performance.

Spring rates?

Decent wheels that aren't *****. probably 949 6ul. Do research on appropriate width/offset for performance expectations.

I already like federal rr tires as they're fairly cheap and actually halfway decent for what they are despite their ***** treadware rating for solo class requirements REEEEEEEEE. Actually wait what the **** is the rs-pro......

I don't know man aero? do I even actually want aero I kinda like looking stock.

Sorry about the crappy image sizes and whatnot can't figure out how to regulate the size.
Alright so removed the old ratty soft top today.
Starting off by yanking the back carpet out.

The little carpet things are annoying and cheap. Mazda part 68-865 or 68-865D. Pop out the kick panel on the door frame then take out the button screw here. Not really pictured well is another screw on top that needs to be removed or you'll rip the rubber bit in half which I almost did.

Next we pull the panel underneath the piece with the button screw. There's nothing really holding this on other than a clip on the backside. **** this clip. Stupid bastard wouldn't come undone then shot across the car when it finally did.

There's another button screw that holds this guy on that isn't pictured but you can see the hole. This just slides off after that with a little finagling.

Now this little guy just kinda pulls off. Just be careful not to bend the bracket.

Now put the top back up for this next part or you'll never reach all this crap. The heater element things need to be removed. As I'm reusing this top somewhere I just bend these down at a 90 degree angle and pulled them off.

These guys are under your carpet and hodl the rain seal to your frame. There are 3 pieces and they're held on by I think a dozen of these nuts 10mm. Pull off the 2 one the side then the big long one in the middle. They shouldn't bind up and aren't on there all that tight.

Alrighty now for the part where we get to these 3 guys. 12mm and there are supposed to be 3 on each side. Whoever put the top on last time in mine lost one so I've gotta find another one...... If anyone knows the part number for this that'd be great otherwise I'm headed to the store.

I pulled this guy out which is on the backside of the seat belt tower because it looked like it was going to get in the way when I pulled the top out. This is held on by a single carpet fastener.

Pting what the hell was that. Oh. Uh. Where did you come from little guy?

Alrighty now now next we pull up the driver side of the top and undo the wiring for what looks like a roof up switch. There are two screws here one of them is flipped upside down for whatever reason. There is a regular compression style connector down in there but mine was being a pain and this was the easier way to get it out.

Now we can finally start pulling this thing out heeyy!

There we go!

As always remember to carefully label and store all parts.

Cheers til next time!
